Elan the magazine is an online lifestyle publication, focused on global youth culture, sharing the stories of remarkable young professionals empowering their communities, enlightening their peers and inspiring those around them. Covering a variety of topics from business and architecture to fashion and culture, Elan also includes inspiring profiles of prominent voices around the world. Based in New York City, the online publication has more than 50,000 visitors per month and is growing rapidly.

History

Founded in 2008 by Moniza Khokhar, Elan first appeared in print and then went online in 2009. Elan’s strives to cover global culture in a way that has not been done before. By highlighting the community in regards to culture, business, travel, humor, high profile people, and mainstream news the publication has succeeded in staying away from stereotypical political issues that tend to drown out these other fascinating stories. Content is youth and forward focused, making it a positive voice about culture and being a modern Muslim in the world today. This unique approach has led the publication to being the dominant voice it is regarded as today.

Elan (Dungeons & Dragons)

In the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy roleplaying game, the elan is a type of fictional creature for player characters to encounter. Players can also use the elan as a player character race.

Publication history

The elan appeared in the third edition in the Expanded Psionics Handbook (2004). The Athasian elan appeared as a player character race for the Dark Sun setting in Dragon #319 (May 2004).

Description

Elan are a race of aberrations with psionic powers. Originally human, they are changed into a new form by other elan. While still humanoid looking, they are immortal and able to sustain their bodies with psionic power instead of food and drink.

Elan (company)

Elan is a Slovenian company, located in Begunje na Gorenjskem, specializing in the production of sporting goods. It is best known for its skis and snowboards. Other products include sailboats from 30 to 50 ft length, motor yachts, apparel (mostly sportswear), and equipment for sports facilities. The brand became better known in the 1970s, when Swedish skiing ace Ingemar Stenmark won three consecutive Alpine skiing World Cups on Elan skis. The company also manufactured license-built DG gliders from 1978 to 1991.

History

The company originated from a Slovene Partisan workshop that operated during the Second World War, when skis were produced for the Yugoslavian Partisan forces. Begunje fielded the only specialized Partisan ski-unit of Yugoslavia during the war. In 1949, the company started with production of small boats, like canoes and kayaks which was later expanded into the production ofFRP boats and yachts. The company has also started the production of wide range of gym equipment and sports clothing. In 1978, the production of license-built DG gliders was started. In 1991 Elan company was split into several subdivisions which continue the production.

Dia (Hangul: 디아, stylized as DIA) (born June 12, 1992) is a South Korean singer and a member of the disbanded girl group Kiss&Cry

Career

Dia created a sketchbook called Dia's Sketchbook, in which she places videos of her singing covers of other people's songs. Dia has collaborated with many artist including IU, The Black, D'Nine, H-Eugene, PD Blue, and such.

She was a member of girl group Kiss & Cry, which released one single and then disbanded (although their company claims they are simply on hiatus, there is notably no mention of the group anywhere on the company's website).

Dia was mistaken as a copier of 2NE1's Bom due to her similar appearance and vocal ability. Dia felt hurt after many people critiqued that she was an imitator of Bom. She stated that she would like to meet Bom and thank her, she also stated she wants to show her own styles and capabilities.

Dia (island)

Dia (Greek Δία ['ði.a]), also pronounced locally Ntia (Ντία ['di.a]), is an uninhabited island off the northern coast of the Greek island of Crete. The island is approximately 7 nautical miles north of Heraklion. Administratively, Dia is part of the community of Elaia within the municipal unit of Gouves, Heraklion regional unit, by the municipality of Elias.

History

The island was formerly known as Standia, and was the principal port of Crete for centuries.

Islet morphology

The islet looks like a giant lizard when viewed from the city of Heraklion. There is also a legend that a giant lizard tried to destroy the island of Crete, but Zeus turned it in to stone with a thunderbolt, thus creating the island.

Mythology

The island is visible from Crete's capital city of Heraklion, as it would have been in the time of the Minoan kingdom, from the capital of Knossos. Because of this, it was sometimes identified as the island that Theseus escaped to after killing the Minotaur.
