El Chavo del Ocho

El Chavo del Ocho (often shortened to El Chavo) is a Mexican television sitcom that gained enormous popularity in Hispanic America as well as in Brazil, Spain, United States, Venezuela, and other countries. It centers on the adventures and tribulations of the title character—a poor orphan nicknamed "El Chavo" (which means "The Lad"), played by the show's creator, Roberto Gómez Bolaños "Chespirito"—and other inhabitants of a fictional low income housing complex, or, as called in Spanish, vecindad. The show's theme song is "The Elephant Never Forgets" by Jean-Jacques Perrey based on Beethoven's "Turkish March" Op. 113.

El Chavo first appeared in 1971 as a sketch in the Chespirito show, which was produced by Televisión Independiente de México (TIM). In 1973, following the merger of TIM and Telesistema Mexicano, El Chavo was transmitted by Televisa and became a weekly half-hour series, which ran until 1980. After that year, shorts continued to be shown in Chespirito until 1992. At its peak of popularity during the mid-1970s, El Chavo was the most watched show in Mexican television and had a Latin American audience of 350 million viewers per episode.

El Chavo (video game)

El Chavo is a party video game based on the popular Mexican TV series El Chavo Animado, and only released in Mexico and Brazil, for the Wii on April 27, 2012. It was developed by Kaxan Media Group and published by Slang Publishing, and Televisa Home Entertainment.

Gameplay

This game is a typical Mario Party-like game, where four characters compete in a board game and the object of this game is to earn more points and medals than your opponents. Up to four players can play.

This game also features four playable characters from the series, El Chavo, Quico, La Popis (Phoebe) and Ñoño (Junior).

Minigames

This game also features around 30 mini-games based on football, darts, piñata, cake baking, and other games. It has only one board that is loosely based on Snakes and Ladders.

Game modes

This game can have up to four players and has two modes, "Libre" (Free Mode), where a player has an option to visit all the mini-games, and "Copa" (Cup Mode), where players compete for medals.

El Chavo Animado

El Chavo Animado (also known as El Chavo: The Animated Series) is a Mexican animated series based on a live-action TV series El Chavo del Ocho, created by Roberto Gómez Bolaños with a same series creator who created the live-action TV series El Chavo del Ocho.

After several years of successful reruns of the original series, Televisa launched simultaneously in Mexico, and the rest of Latin America, an animated version of the program made by Ánima Estudios on October 21, 2006 to capitalize on the nostalgia and popularity of the original series. Along with the series, Televisa launched a huge marketing campaign that included merchandise tie-ins to capitalize on the expected success of the show. For the series launching event a full set was built imitating the computerized background, where a presentation showed how the animation was made. Many elements of the original series, including most of the original stories were included in the animated series.

The series aired via Kabillion On Demand in English in North America. Despite appearing in the video-on-demand service, the series did not appear or was mentioned on the official Kabillion website until the relaunch of the site in April 2012, after which the series was placed there. The series is also available on YouTube in multiple languages.
