Eddie Jordan

Edmund Patrick "Eddie" Jordan (born 30 March 1948), also known as EJ, is an Irish former motorsport team boss, businessman, entrepreneur, musician and mentor. He was the founder and owner of Jordan Grand Prix, a Formula One constructor which operated from 1991 to 2005. He was the lead analyst for Formula One coverage on the BBC from 2009 to 2015.

Born in Dublin, Jordan initially considered becoming a priest due to his religious background, and later a dentist before eventually working for the Bank of Ireland. He discovered go-kart racing on a working holiday in Jersey, later entering the Irish Kart Championship in 1971, which he won. A move to Formula Ford in 1974 resulted in consistency over two years and later he entered the Formula Atlantic and Formula Three championships. In 1979 Jordan founded Eddie Jordan Racing, entering motor races across the United Kingdom and later moving into Formula 3000. In 1991 Jordan established a new team Jordan Grand Prix which raced in Formula One motor racing from 1991 until selling the team to Russian-Canadian businessman Alex Shnaider, who renamed the team Midland in 2006.

Fiction Factory

Fiction Factory were a Scottish new wave band from Perth, formed in 1983. A one-hit wonder, the group are known solely to mainstream audiences for their debut single "(Feels Like) Heaven", which reached #6 on the UK Singles Chart.

History

Before they began Fiction Factory, Kevin Patterson (vocals), Eddie Jordan (keyboards), Grant Taylor (trumpet) and Chic Medley (guitar) played in skinhead ska band The Rude Boys (later shortened to The RB's). Asked by CBS to create a concert-playing band, they enlisted Graham McGregor (bass) and Mike Ogletree (drums and percussion), a former member of Simple Minds, and Café Jacques. The band's single "(Feels Like) Heaven" became a UK Top 10 hit in 1984 (also reaching the Top 10 in Germany and Switzerland).

Fiction Factory disbanded in 1987 after the release of their second album. Patterson later left the music industry. He currently works in the IT department at the University of Dundee. He has a wife and two children. Patterson and Jordan reunited to perform "(Feels Like) Heaven" (with backing band) at Jordan's wedding in August 2007. Medley went on to work with the Scottish world music project, Mouth Music.

Eddie Jordan (basketball)

Edward Montgomery Jordan (born January 29, 1955) is a retired American professional basketball player and the head coach of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights men's basketball team. He formerly served as head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers, Washington Wizards, and Sacramento Kings in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

College career

Jordan attended Rutgers University from 1973-1977, from 1984-1985, and again starting in 2013. He studied physical education, but never graduated. Jordan helped lead the school to the 1976 NCAA Final Four, during which he was named East Regional MVP. At Rutgers, Jordan acquired the nickname "Fast Eddie." In his senior season, Jordan was named honorable mention All-America, while setting Rutgers' all-time career records in assists (585) and steals (220).

Jordan was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round of the 1977 NBA Draft (33rd overall), and was acquired by the New Jersey Nets halfway through his rookie season. Jordan tied Norm Nixon (Los Angeles Lakers) for the lead in total steals with 201 in 1978-1979, and was second in total steals, 223, in 1979–80 (behind the New York Knicks' Micheal Ray Richardson with 265).

Eddie Jordan (attorney)

Eddie Jack Jordan, Jr. (born October 6, 1952), was the district attorney for Orleans Parish, Louisiana from 2003 until 2007, when he resigned. A member of the Democratic Party, Jordan was the first African American to have held the elected position. He announced his resignation on October 30, 2007, when a court rendered a large judgment against his office on behalf of white employees that the D.A. had earlier dismissed on account of their race.

Jordan was born to Mr. and Mrs. Eddie J. Jordan, Sr. He grew up in the middle class Pontchartrain Park neighborhood of the Ninth Ward of New Orleans. He graduated from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut in 1974, and was then awarded a scholarship to the Rutgers University School of Law in New Jersey, from which he graduated in 1977. After being admitted to the bar and practicing in Pennsylvania for some four years, Jordan returned to Louisiana in 1981 to teach law at Southern University in Baton Rouge. He became a member of the Louisiana bar the following year.

Jordan Village, Connecticut

Jordan is a village in the town of Waterford, Connecticut, and the historic center of the town. It was named from the Jordan River. The village was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Jordan Village Historic District in 1990. The district includes 58 contributing buildings and one other contributing site over an area of 57 acres (23 ha). It includes examples of Greek Revival and Queen Anne architectural styles.

Location

Jordan Village is located on land known historically as Jordan Plain, a flat land area at the head of Jordan Cove, an estuary off Long Island Sound. The historic district surrounds the intersection of Rope Ferry Road and North Road.

Jordan (Bishop of Poland)

Jordan (died in 982 or 984) was the first Bishop of Poland from 968 with his seat, most probably, in Poznań. He was an Italian or German.

Most evidence shows that he was missionary bishop subordinate directly to the Pope. He arrived in Poland, probably from Italy or the Rhineland, in 966 with Doubravka of Bohemia to baptise Mieszko I of Poland. After the death of Jordan until 992 the throne of the Bishop of Poland was vacant, or there was a bishop of unknown name (the first theory is more probable). His successor, from 992, was Unger.
