Ed Kowalczyk

Edward Joel Kowalczyk (born July 16, 1971) is an American musician, and a founding member of the band Live. Since leaving Live in 2009, he has launched a solo career. His first album, Alive, was released worldwide in June and July 2010.

Live

Ed Kowalczyk was the lead singer, lyricist and main songwriter for the band Live.

In 2009, he left the band and the other three members issued a statement detailing what they felt were inappropriate actions by Kowalczyk. Kowalczyk is being sued by the band, seeking damages and an injunction against using the name "Live".

Solo career

Following his departure from Live, Kowalczyk recorded his first solo album, Alive, which was released in 2010. In 2012 he recorded The Garden and in 2013 The Flood and the Mercy.

Collaboration with other musicians

Kowalczyk has worked with musicians Stuart Davis and Glen Ballard and singers Anouk, Neneh Cherry, Adam Duritz of Counting Crows and Shelby Lynne. He featured on the song "Evolution Revolution Love," from the 2001 Tricky album Blowback. He collaborated with Chris Frantz, Jerry Harrison and Tina Weymouth (ex-Talking Heads, then performing as The Heads) on the song "Indie Hair" from their 1996 album No Talking, Just Head.

Zion

by: Ed Kowalczyk

Take me on up to Zion
Where I can lay my burden down
Everything's on fire
Ain't no peace in this crazy town
Take me on up to Zion
Where my Lord will comfort me
He will lay me down by still water
While my enemies run from me
They gonna run
Run from me
You will see
See them run
Far away
From me
Take me on up to Zion
Think I gotta Psalm
Runnin' through my head
Bring me over to King David
Gonna sing it now for all my friends
Take me on up to Zion
Where no harm shall come to me
No fire will light upon my cloak
And the sons of iniquity
They gonna run
Run from me
You will see
See them run
Far away
From me
Take me on up to Zion
Where I can lay my burdens down
Oh everything's on fire
Ain't no peace in this crazy town
Take me on up to Zion
To the secret place in my heart
Where even Satan don't dare
To stand too long
When he sees that temple guard
