Disrupt

Disrupt was an American grindcore/crust punk band from Boston, Massachusetts, United States. They only released one mainstream album (Unrest on Relapse), however the band acquired a cult following on the strength of several underground 7-inch EPs and compilation appearances. Their lyrics are anarchist in nature.

Members of the band have gone on to play in many other bands since the dissolution of Disrupt, including Consume, Grief, State of Fear, Goff, Demonic Death Preachers, Effects Of Alcohol, and Chicken Chest and the Bird Boys

Disrupt (game engine)

The Disrupt game engine for Watch Dogs was intended to be a game focused on driving, a successor of Driver: San Francisco. The Ubisoft Reflections staff who had previously worked on Driver: San Francisco, collaborated with Ubisoft Montreal on the development of Watch Dogs.

It was based on the former Reflections engine (Driver: San Francisco) and refactored with some components from AnvilNext and Dunia Engine, two Ubisoft game engines used in the Assassin's Creed game series and the Far Cry 2, Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4 games respectively. Management of an open world city from the AnvilNext engine, and vegetation and AI mechanics from the Dunia Engine have been implemented in Disrupt.

Disrupt with Karen Finney is a political news and commentary television program that aired weekends at 4:00 p.m. ET on MSNBC from 2013 to 2014. It was hosted by Karen Finney, a Democratic political operative who had been a political commentator at MSNBC since 2009. The show debuted on June 8, 2013 and had its final broadcast June 1, 2014.

Format

The show ran from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on MSNBC weekends. In its first two months, it led in to The Ed Show.

History

Finney had been a political commentator and guest host on MSNBC programs since 2009. Prior to that, she had worked on four campaigns, had served as deputy press secretary to Hillary Clinton during the Clinton presidency, and had served as a spokeswoman for the Democratic National Committee. Finney stopped her consultant work upon starting the show.

Her show was the second weekend MSNBC program to feature an African American host, after Melissa Harris-Perry.

Finney's show was announced without a title on April 2, 2013. The promotion came amidst a series of programming changes at MSNBC, including an effort to improve weekend programming.Disrupt was originally scheduled to premiere on May 11, 2013, but was later rescheduled for June 8, 2013. The premiere opened with a discussion on "the conservative War on Women", and her first guest was U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer.

Eating

Eating (also known as consuming) is the ingestion of food, typically to provide a heterotrophic organism with energy and to allow for growth. Animals and other heterotrophs must eat in order to survive — carnivores eat other animals, herbivores eat plants, omnivores consume a mixture of both plant and animal matter, and detritivores eat detritus. Fungi digest organic matter outside of their bodies as opposed to animals that digest their food inside their bodies. For humans, eating is an activity of daily living. Some individuals may limit their amount of nutritional intake. This may be a result of a lifestyle choice, due to hunger or famine, as part of a diet or as religious fasting.

Eating practices among humans

Many homes have a large eating room or outside (in the tropics) kitchen area devoted to preparation of meals and food, and may have a dining room, dining hall, or another designated area for eating. Some trains have a dining car. Dishware, silverware, drinkware, and cookware come in a wide array of forms and sizes. Most societies also have restaurants, food courts, and/or food vendors, so that people may eat when away from home, when lacking time to prepare food, or as a social occasion (dining club). At their highest level of sophistication, these places become "theatrical spectacles of global cosmopolitanism and myth." At picnics, potlucks, and food festivals, eating is in fact the primary purpose of a social gathering. At many social events, food and beverages are made available to attendees.

Eat (film)

Eat (1963) is a 45-minute underground film created by Andy Warhol and featuring painter Robert Indiana, filmed on Sunday, February 2, 1964 in Indiana's studio. The film was first shown by Jonas Mekas on July 16, 1964 at the Washington Square Gallery at 530 West Broadway.

Eat is filmed in black-and-white, has no soundtrack, and depicts fellow pop artist Indiana engaged in the process of eating for the entire length of the film. The comestible being consumed is apparently a mushroom. Finally, notice is taken of a brief appearance made by a cat.

Eat (band)

Eat are a British alternative rock band. They were active in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and then reformed in 2014. They have released two albums on The Cure's label Fiction. The band achieved reasonable success in the UK, but did not attract much attention abroad.

Career

The band started out playing a distinctive mixture of swamp blues, hip hop and funk, showcased on their 1989 album Sell Me A God. At this time they undertook tours of Europe with The Jesus and Mary Chain and Phillip Boa. Band tensions led to the abandonment of a second album in 1990, although they toured in October on the back of an NME single of the week, "Psycho Couch". However, a combination of internal feuds ("It got to the point where we just couldn't bear to be in the same room as each other") led to a complete split and meant that the band was effectively on hiatus from 1990 to 1992. The band returned with a different line up, a completely different sound - of pop and psychedelia - and the album Epicure in 1993. Despite positive reviews, a tour in the United States with Medicine, and extensive airplay, Eat had evidently run its course, and in 1995 Dolittle left to join members of The Wonder Stuff in Weknowwhereyoulive, whilst Howard joined The Wonder Stuff's singer Miles Hunt in his new project Vent 414.

Shit

Shit is an English word that is usually considered vulgar and profane in Modern English. As a noun it refers to fecal matter, and as a verb it means to defecate; in the plural ("the shits") it means diarrhea. Shite is also a common variant in British English and Irish English. As a slang term, it has many meanings, including: nonsense, foolishness, something of little value or quality, trivial and usually boastful or inaccurate talk, or a contemptible person. It may also be used as an expression of annoyance, surprise, or anger.

Etymology

The word is likely derived from Old English, having the nouns scite (dung, attested only in place names) and scitte (diarrhoea), and the verb scītan (to defecate, attested only in bescītan, to cover with excrement); eventually it morphed into Middle English schītte (excrement), schyt (diarrhoea) and shiten (to defecate), and it is virtually certain that it was used in some form by preliterate Germanic tribes at the time of the Roman Empire. The word may be further traced to Proto-Germanic *skit-, and ultimately to Proto-Indo-European *skheid- "cut, separate", the same root believed to have become the word shed. The word has several cognates in modern Germanic languages, such as German Scheiße, Dutch schijt, Swedish skit, Icelandic skítur, Norwegian skitt etc. Ancient Greek had 'skōr' (gen. 'skatos' hence 'scato-'), from Proto-Indo-European *sker-, which is likely unrelated.
