Early access

Early access, alphafunding, or paid-alpha is a funding model in the video game industry by which consumers can pay for a game in the early stages of development and obtain access to playable but unfinished versions of the game, while the developer is able to use those funds to continue work on the game. Those that pay to participate typically help to debug game, provide feedback and suggestions, and may have access to special materials upon release of the game. The early access approach is a common way to obtain funding for indie games and may also be used along other funding mechanisms including crowdfunding.

History

Traditionally, game publishers do not release unfinished versions of their products to the public, instead relying on in-house testing non-disclosure agreements. This prevents such versions from becoming the target of software piracy, and limits what information can potentially be shared with competitors. As such, publishers will fund the full development of a game through its completion, but will be less willing to take risks on experimental titles. In some cases, publishers have found ways to allow players to win or buy into access into a game's beta state in a controlled environment. For example, an invitation to the beta version of the multiplayer portion of Halo 3 was bundled with the game Crackdown, attributing to that game's strong sales.

Early was incorporated on May 22, 1883, and is named after D.C. Early, a local settler.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.39 square miles (1.01 km²), all of it land.

The racial makeup of the city was 93.2% White, 1.4% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.5% Pacific Islander, 3.1% from other races, and 1.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.5% of the population.

The West Wing (season 5)

The fifth season of the American political drama television series The West Wing aired in the United States on NBC from September 24, 2003, to May 19, 2004, and consisted of 22 episodes. This was the first season with executive producer John Wells as showrunner after series creator Aaron Sorkin departed the series after the conclusion of the previous season.

Access (TV series)

Access (sometimes called Take 30 Access and CBC Access) was a Canadian Community television series which aired on CBC Television from 1974 to 1982, except 1981.

Premise

The series offered airtime to Canadian organisations to inform Canadians of their concerns and opinions. Groups applied to the CBC for the opportunity to produce an episode of Access. Successful applicants were given assistance by CBC staff to develop their programme in a four-week production time frame. Contents of the programmes were subject to CBC policies regarding political promotion, fundraising and defamatory content, in addition to CRTC regulations.
