ESO (band)

ESO (formerly known as Esoterica, typecast by the band as esOterica) were an Alternative Rock band from London, United Kingdom. They released three studio albums, "The Fool" in 2005, "The Riddle" in 2009 and "Nothing Left To Lose" in 2012. The latter of which was their début as ESO. They also released five singles as esOterica, "Don't Rely on Anyone" in 2005, "Tomorrow I Won't Remember", "Silence" in 2009 and "Scream" in 2010, and three singles as ESO, "We Are Watching You" and "The Divide" both in 2012 and "Brand New Suit" in 2013.

The first single for their third studio album, "We Are Watching You", was released on 2 July 2012, the single featured Mike Spreitzer who is the guitarist in metal band DevilDriver. The following single "The Divide" was released on 1 October 2012. The entire album, "Nothing Left To Lose", was released on 1 October 2012 via the band's official store and was later released in other stores from 22 October.

On 25 May 2012, the band held a special album preview show in London, this was their first headline show of 2012 and completely sold out. In July 2012, the band supported Marilyn Manson for the second time across Europe having already supported him once in 2009. Just before they set out to Europe guitarist Bari Parrott left the band for undisclosed reasons and was replaced by Carl Johnston.

ESO 540-030

ESO 540-030 is a faint dwarf galaxy in the Sculptor Group. It has the appearance of a massive scattering of dim stars.

The galaxy is located slightly more than 11 million light-years from Earth. It is difficult to observe due to galaxies situated behind ESO 540-030, and five bright stars between the galaxy and the Solar System.

Westerlund 1

Westerlund 1 (also called Ara Cluster, designated Wd1) is a compact young super star cluster in the Milky Way galaxy, about 3.5–5 kpc away from Earth. It is one of the most massive young star clusters in the Milky Way, and was discovered by Bengt Westerlund in 1961 but remained largely unstudied for many years due to high interstellar absorption in its direction. In the future, it will probably evolve into a globular cluster.

The cluster contains a large number of rare, evolved, high-mass stars, including: 6 yellow hypergiants, 4 red supergiants including Westerlund 1-26, one of the largest known stars, 24 Wolf-Rayet stars, a luminous blue variable, many OB supergiants, and an unusual supergiant sgB[e] star which has been proposed to be the remnant of a recent stellar merger. In addition, X-ray observations have revealed the presence of the anomalous X-ray pulsar CXO J164710.2-455216, a slow rotating neutron star that must have formed from a high-mass progenitor star. Westerlund 1 is believed to have formed in a single burst of star formation, implying the constituent stars have similar ages and compositions.

NGC 247

NGC 247 is an intermediate spiral galaxy (although it is sometimes classified as a dwarf spiral galaxy) about 11.1 Mly away in the constellation Cetus. This distance was confirmed in late February 2011. Previous measurements showed that the galaxy was about 12.2 Mly away, but this was proved to be wrong. NGC 247 is a member of the Sculptor Group.

NGC 247 is marred by an unusually large void on one side of its spiral disk. This void contains some older, redder stars but no younger, bluer stars.

Nearby galaxies and galaxy group information

NGC 247 is one of several galaxies that is gravitationally bound to the Sculptor Galaxy (NGC 253). These galaxies form a small core in the center of the Sculptor Group, which is one of the nearest groups of galaxies to the Milky Way. Most other galaxies associated with the Sculptor Group are only weakly gravitationally bound to this core.

+/-, or Plus/Minus, is an American indietronic band formed in 2001. The band makes use of both electronic and traditional instruments, and has sought to use electronics to recreate traditional indie rock song forms and instrumental structures. The group has released two albums on each of the American indie labels Teenbeat Records and Absolutely Kosher, and their track "All I do" was prominently featured in the soundtrack for the major film Wicker Park. The group has developed a devoted following in Japan and Taiwan, and has toured there frequently. Although many artists append bonus tracks onto the end of Japanese album releases to discourage purchasers from buying cheaper US import versions, the overseas versions of +/- albums are usually quite different from the US versions - tracklists can be rearranged, artwork with noticeable changes is used, and tracks from the US version can be replaced as well as augmented by bonus tracks.

!!! is a dance-punk band that formed in Sacramento, California, in 1996 by lead singer Nic Offer. Its name is most commonly pronounced "Chk Chk Chk" ([/tʃk.tʃk.tʃk/]). Members of !!! came from other local bands such as The Yah Mos, Black Liquorice and Popesmashers. They are currently based in New York City, Sacramento, and Portland, Oregon. The band's sixth full-length album, As If, was released in October 2015.

Background and history

!!! is an American band formed in the summer of 1995 by the merger of part of the group Black Liquorice and Popesmashers. After a successful joint tour, these two teams decided to mix the disco-funk with more aggressive sounds and integrate the hardcore singer Nic Offer from the The Yah Mos. The band's name was inspired by the subtitles of the movie The Gods Must Be Crazy, in which the clicking sounds of the Bushmens' Khoisan language were represented as "!". However, as the bandmembers themselves say, !!! is pronounced by repeating thrice any monosyllabic sound. "Chk Chk Chk" is the most common pronunciation, which the URL of their official website and the title of their Myspace page suggest is the preferred pronunciation.
