ER (season 4)

The fourth season of the American fictional drama television series ER first aired on September 25, 1997 and concluded on May 14, 1998. The fourth season consists of 22 episodes.

Plot

Season four opens with the live episode "Ambush", performed twice (once for the east coast, once for the west coast). Dr. Morgenstern, head of the ER, has a heart attack, threatening his life. Weaver agrees to temporarily step in until he recovers. Unfortunately, when Morgenstern does come back, he cannot perform surgery like he used to do because he now knows what it is like to be a patient. After a surgical accident that takes a man's life, Morgenstern decides to permanently step down as head of the ER and he leaves the hospital.

Two new physicians join the ER: Dr. Anna Del Amico, played by Maria Bello and a new British surgeon Dr. Elizabeth Corday, played by Alex Kingston. Corday came to America under the fellowship of Dr. Robert "Rocket" Romano (played by Paul McCrane), but their relationship sours towards the end of the season. After she rejects Romano when he asks her out, he decides not to renew her fellowship. She is forced to choose whether she moves back to England or stays in America as an intern.

The fourth season of Friends, an American sitcom created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, premiered on NBC on September 25, 1997. Friends was produced by Bright/Kauffman/Crane Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television. The season contains 24 episodes and concluded airing on May 7, 1998. Season synopsis

In the Season 4 premiere, Ross decides to break up with Bonnie to get back together with Rachel, who writes him a letter. However, Ross is too tired to read the 18-page letter in the early hours of dawn, but his desire to get back with Rachel is such that he lied about reading it to her the next morning. Upon realizing that the letter had stated that Rachel is willing to reconcile with Ross only on condition that he accepts full responsibility for their previous break-up, he opposes. They break up again due to Rachel's continuous mention of the letter and Ross not being able to continue having Rachel think that he has taken responsibility for their first break up.

Name

After the band had their first show booked for 14 Dec 1998 (Matt's 18th birthday, by coincidence) they had no name to promote the show with. Looking into his college bag, Matt pulled out a CD by Northern Irish rockers 'Ash', called 'Trailer'. The 1st track on it was called Season. They also used the font for the band logo. Before deciding on this name, they flirted with names such as: Bomb (a 'Bush' song from the '16stone' album), Flirt, Anavrin ('Nirvana' backwards).

History

Formation and early years: 1997–2005

Matt and Gary Steeles met in school in 1996, with a keen common interest in Nirvana, they began to hang out and talk about how cool it would be to be in a band. They started 'Anavrin' just before their exams in 1997, with Gary teaching Matt how to play the guitar, and Gary taking up bass. Later in 1997, mutual school friend Simon Hartland joined on guitar - he being the person who had gotten Matt into rock music over the previous couple of years. The 3 looked for a drummer, and eventually did 2 gigs with session drummer Paul Wall.
