Digital journalism

Digital journalism also known as online journalism is a contemporary form of journalism where editorial content is distributed via the Internet as opposed to publishing via print or broadcast. What constitutes 'digital journalism' is debated by scholars. However the primary product of journalism, which is news and features on current affairs, is presented solely or in combination as text, audio, video and some interactive forms, and disseminated through digital media platforms.

Fewer barriers to entry, lowered distribution costs, and diverse computer networking technologies have led to the widespread practice of digital journalism. It has democratized the flow of information that was previously controlled by traditional media including newspapers, magazines, radio, and television.

Some have asserted that greater degree of creativity can be exercised with digital journalism when compared to traditional journalism and traditional media. The digital aspect may be central to the journalistic message and remains, to some extent, within the creative control of the writer, editor, and/or publisher.

TV3 News

TV3 News is the branding of news programmes on Irish television channel TV3 Ireland since its launch in September 1998. The news service is available on tv, online, on-demand and on mobile. TV3 News starts updates weekdays from 07:00 until 23:00 each weekday. These updates are either part of existing TV3 shows such as Ireland AM or as stand alone news programmes such as the flagship 'The 5:30' and 'News at 8:00'. Between Monday to Thursday news updates are served by Tonight with Vincent Browne from 23:00. A lunchtime bulletin is served by the The 12:30 each weekday.

TV3 no-longer broadcasts any weekend news bulletins but this will change from August 29, 2015.

Specialized Programming

E! News

E! News, previously known as E! News Daily and E! News Live, is the flagship entertainment newscast of the E! network in the United States. Without italics, it is the name of the network's entertainment-news division. The newscast debuted on September 1, 1991, and primarily reports on celebrity news and gossip, along with previews of upcoming films and television shows, regular segments about all of those three subjects, and some news about the industry in general.

Overview

The program first aired on September 1, 1991 and was originally hosted by Dagny Hultgreen. It features stories and gossip about celebrities as well as the film, music, and television industries. Since its launch, it has broadcast under a variety of formats, at one point even airing live during the mid-2000s (at this time, the show was named E! News Live). Starting in 2006, it was hosted by Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic. In April 2012, Seacrest was replaced by Jason Kennedy. Rancic temporarily left the show on maternity leave in August 2012 due to the birth of her first son (through a surrogate), leaving others to question if she would return. But Rancic reassured her fans by releasing a statement saying she had just signed a three-year deal with E! News and Fashion Police. During her leave, her anchoring duties were taken over by Catt Sadler. From 2006 until late 2010, The Daily 10, hosted by Sal Masekela, Catt Sadler, and at one point Debbie Matenopoulos, aired following E! News.
