Altered

Altered may refer to:

  • An Altered (drag racing), a type of drag racing car
  • Altered (film), a 2006 film

  • Altered (film)

Altered is a 2006 science fiction horror film directed by Eduardo Sánchez and written by Jamie Nash. It was Sánchez's first solo effort as director following his co-directing of The Blair Witch Project in 1999.

The plot is an inversion of the standard alien abduction formula, as four men abduct a lone alien, planning to wreak revenge on the invading species. In its early stages, the film was entitled Probed, and was intended as a comic homage to work of Sam Raimi and Troma Entertainment.

    Plot synopsis

Altered is the story of four men who seek revenge on aliens that abducted them and murdered their friend many years ago. As is explained via dialogue throughout the film, fifteen years before the events shown in the film, a group of five fifteen-year-old friends living in a remote American town were captured and experimented on by aliens while on a hunting trip. Only four of the friends returned alive. The main character (Wyatt) has since distanced himself from his childhood friends and is shown to have decided to live with the past, albeit in apparent constant paranoia. Two of the remaining three characters however have been obsessed by revenge and have persuaded the remaining, somewhat leadable, character that this is the correct course of action to take. The story opens with the tracking and subsequent capture of a lone alien - the consequences of which Wyatt and the three friends soon become deeply involved in.

    Alternation (geometry)

In geometry, an alternation or partial truncation, is an operation on a polygon, polyhedron, tiling, or higher dimensional polytope that removes alternate vertices.

Coxeter labels an alternation by a prefixed by an h, standing for hemi or half. Because alternation reduce all polygon faces to half as many sides, it can only be applied for polytopes with all even-sided faces. An alternated square face becomes a digon, and being degenerate, is usually reduced to a single edge.

More generally any vertex-uniform polyhedron or tiling with a vertex configuration consisting of all even-numbered elements can be alternated. For example the alternation a vertex figure with 2a.2b.2c is a.3.b.3.c.3 where the three is the number of elements in this vertex figure. A special case is square faces whose order divide in half into degenerate digons. So for example, the cube 4.4.4 is alternated as 2.3.2.3.2.3 which is reduced to 3.3.3, being the tetrahedron, and all the 6 edges of the tetrahedra can also be seen as the degenerate faces of the original cube.

    Abnormality (behavior)

Abnormality (or dysfunctional behavior), in the vivid sense of something deviating from the normal or differing from the typical (such as an aberration), is a subjectively defined behavioral characteristic, assigned to those with rare or dysfunctional conditions. Behavior is considered abnormal when it is atypical, out of the ordinary, causes some kind of impairment, or consists of undesirable behavior. Who is normal or abnormal is a contentious issue in abnormal psychology.

    Several conventional criteria

There are five main criteria of abnormality. They are 1. statistical criterion 2. social criterion 3. personal discomfort 4. maladaptive behaviour 5. deviation from ideal

  • One criterion for "abnormality" that may appear to apply in the case of abnormal behavior is statistical infrequency. This has an obvious flaw — the extremely intelligent are just as abnormal as their opposites. Therefore, individual abnormal behaviors are considered statistically unusual as well as undesirable. The presence of some form of abnormal behavior is not unusual. About one quarter of people in the United States, for example, are believed to meet criteria for a mental disorder in any given year. Mental disorders, by definition, involve unusual or statistically abnormal behaviors.

Sickology 101 is the eighth studio album, and the second in the "Collabos" series, by rapper Tech N9ne.

Early on, the album carried a "The Study of Being Sick" subtitle, but as its release grew nearer, the subtitle was phased out. The album features guest appearances from Krayzie Bone,Crooked I,Chino XL,Messy Marv,Ron Ron, Potluck, also featured are fellow Kansas City rappers Cash Image, D-Locc Da Chop and the 57th Street Rogue Dog Villians. Furthermore, fellow Strange Music rappers Krizz Kaliko,Kutt Calhoun and Big Scoob are featured. It features production by producers that have previously collaborated with Tech, like Tramaine "Young Fyre" Winfrey, Jonah "Matic Lee" Appleby, Adam "Wyshmaster" Cherrington, and Michael "Seven" Summers, with additional production alongside Young Fyre, like Josh "Karbon" Brunstetter and Brian "Yung Fokus" Reid. The additional production credits were absent from the copies of the album in the initial pressing, but were added in subsequent pressings.

    Dysfunctional (Dokken album)

Dysfunctional is the fifth studio album by heavy metal band Dokken, released in 1995. It was the band's first release after reuniting in 1993. Although the album entered the chart respectably at No. 47 at a time when 1980s hard rock and heavy metal had largely declined, sales quickly dropped off and were not enough to reach gold RIAA certification. According to Don Dokken, the album sold around 400,000 copies.

The song "Too High to Fly" was released as a promo single from the album and was a minor hit. As of 2009, it is the only song from the post-1980s portion of the bands' back catalogue that is still performed live, albeit only occasionally.
