Drunk on You

"Drunk on You" is a song written by Rodney Clawson, Chris Tompkins and Josh Kear, and recorded by American country music artist Luke Bryan. It was released in February 2012 as the third single from his album Tailgates & Tanlines.

Critical reception

Billy Dukes of Taste of Country gave the song four stars out of five, writing that it is "full of color and landscape that allow a listener to feel what [Bryan is] singing" and "has the potential to age like fine wine." Kevin John Coyne of Country Universe gave the song an A grade, saying that "it doesn't sound like a love scene being forced out into the country for genre purposes, so much as a love scene that just happens to be taking place in the country" while adding that Bryan is "helping [country music] age with dignity and a sense of humor." Matt Bjorke of Roughstock gave the song a mixed review, calling the lyrics "downright cheesy in places" but went on to say that it is "certainly something the college-age fans will downright love and relate to as they live in the moment."

Alcohol intoxication

Alcohol intoxication (also known as drunkenness or inebriation) is a physiological state (that may also include psychological alterations of consciousness) induced by the ingestion of ethanol (alcohol).

Alcohol intoxication is the result of alcohol entering the bloodstream faster than it can be metabolized by the liver, which breaks down the ethanol into non-intoxicating byproducts. Some effects of alcohol intoxication (such as euphoria and lowered social inhibitions) are central to alcohol's desirability as a beverage and its history as one of the world's most widespread recreational drugs. Despite this widespread use and alcohol's legality in most countries, many medical sources tend to describe any level of alcohol intoxication as a form of poisoning due to ethanol's damaging effects on the body in large doses; some religions consider alcohol intoxication to be a sin while others utilize it in sacrament.

Symptoms of alcohol intoxication include euphoria, flushed skin and decreased social inhibition at lower doses, with larger doses producing progressively severe impairments of balance, muscle coordination (ataxia), and decision-making ability (potentially leading to violent or erratic behavior) as well as nausea or vomiting from alcohol's disruptive effect on the semicircular canals of the inner ear and chemical irritation of the gastric mucosa. Sufficiently high levels of blood-borne alcohol will cause coma and death from the depressive effects of alcohol upon the central nervous system.

Drunk (Jimmy Liggins song)

"Drunk" is a 1953 Jimmy Liggins song. The song was released on Art Rupe's Specialty Records with another Liggin's composition "I'll Never Let You Go" as the B-side. The song "Drunk" has been covered by many artists including Ace Cannon (1971) and Steve Tallis (1986).

The lyrics include the line "Came home one night with a spinning in my head/reached for the pillow, missed the whole darned bed".

"Drunk" is a song by English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. It was released as the fourth single lifted from the debut studio album + on 17 February 2012. The song was written by Ed Sheeran and produced by Jake Gosling. The single entered the UK Singles Chart at number 63. The week after, it climbed to number 29. Later on, it climbed to number 9, making it his fourth top ten single.

Background

On January 14, 2012, Ed Sheeran announced on Twitter that his single, "Drunk" would be released as the fourth single from his debut album + saying "So my next single is Drunk, I got 2 music videos coming for you..... :)". The official music video, released on 23 January 2012 features a cat who takes Ed out and gets him drunk to distract him from a break-up. The girl in the video, is the singer supporting him on his recent tour, Nina Nesbitt. This happens to be his first music video that he fully starred in. Another video was released several days before made by his cousin. The music video featured a mash up of clips from his UK tour.
