WCW Mayhem

Mayhem was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) produced by World Championship Wrestling (WCW) that replaced the promotion's November PPV event World War 3 which was held from 1995 to 1998 and was held in the month of November in 1999 and 2000. It is noted for being the first wrestling pay-per-view named after a video game, rather than the video game named after a pay-per-view. The 1999 match between Bret Hart vs Chris Benoit was featured in the opening credits of the TV Show Malcolm in the Middle. The rights to the event is now owned by the WWE since 2001.

1999

Mayhem 1999 took place on November 21, 1999 from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario.

During the WCW World Heavyweight Championship tournament semi-final match between Bret Hart and Sting, The Total Package interfered by attacking Sting with a baseball bat. This led to Hart being announced as the winner via disqualification. Not wanting to win in this manner, Hart demanded the match be restarted, and ultimately forced Sting to submit with the Sharpshooter. Scott Hall was originally supposed to face Rick Steiner for the WCW World Television Championship, but Steiner was too injured to compete. Hall was awarded the title by forfeit and immediately had to defend it against Booker T instead.

Mayhem (band)

Mayhem is a Norwegian black metal band formed in 1984 in Oslo, regarded as one of the pioneers of the Norwegian black metal scene. Mayhem's career has been highly controversial, primarily due to their violent stage performances, the 1991 suicide of vocalist Per Yngve Ohlin ("Dead") and the 1993 murder of guitarist Øystein Aarseth ("Euronymous") by former member Varg Vikernes ("Count Grishnackh"), of Burzum.

The group released a demo and an EP that were highly influential, and amassed a loyal following through sporadic and notorious live performances, attracting further attention through their ties to the string of Norwegian church burnings and the prominent incidents of violence surrounding them. They disbanded after Aarseth's murder, shortly before the release of their debut album, De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas, regarded as a classic of the black metal genre. Surviving former members Jan Axel Blomberg ("Hellhammer"), Jørn Stubberud ("Necrobutcher") and Sven Erik Kristiansen ("Maniac") reformed two years later with Rune Eriksen ("Blasphemer") replacing Aarseth. Attila Csihar and Krister Dreyer ("Morfeus") have since replaced Kristiansen and Eriksen, respectively.

Mayhem (video game)

Mayhem (also known as Mayhem 3D) is a racing video game developed by Left Field Productions, published by Rombax Games, and distributed by Zoo Entertainment for Xbox 360 and PS3. The game is a demolition derby style game that features 3D gameplay that works on any TV.

Graphics

The game features full 3D compatibility for any TV. It has an art style similar to MadWorld for the Wii, an over saturated graphic novel style with the only colors being black, white, and red as the sky.

Gameplay

The career mode is split into graphic novel chapters. There are multiple different game modes to play throughout the game. There are many things to unlock with Mayhem Points and Stars, including vehicles and tracks.

Dreamer (Supertramp song)

"Dreamer" is a hit single from Supertramp's 1974 album Crime of the Century. It peaked at number 13 on the UK singles chart in February 1975. In 1980, it appeared on their live album Paris. This live version was also released as a single and hit number 15 on the US charts, number 36 in the Dutch Top 40, and number 1 on the Canadian Singles Chart.

Background

"Dreamer" was composed by Roger Hodgson on his Wurlitzer piano at his mother's house when he was 19 years old. At that time he recorded a demo of the song using vocals, Wurlitzer, and banging cardboard boxes for percussion. Hodgson recalled, "I was excited – it was the first time I laid hands on a Wurlitzer." Supertramp cut their own recording of the song in imitation of this early demo.

The band performed the song on the BBC's Old Grey Whistle Test show in 1974, during which John Helliwell can be seen playing the rim of a wine glass on top of his keyboard to achieve a certain sound effect.

The song was used in the films The Parole Officer, Wild Thing and The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, as well as its trailer.

Dreamer (Europe song)

"Dreamer" is a 1984 power ballad by the Swedish heavy metal band Europe. It was the second single from the Wings of Tomorrow album. The single was only released in Japan. It bears a strong resemblance to the hit single "Carrie" that was released two years later. This song is referenced in the song "Time Has Come" off the band's next album The Final Countdown in the lyric, "Pray for the dreamer/He's still so sad." In 1993 the song was included on their greatest hits compilation 1982–1992.

Dreamer (1979 film)

Dreamer is a film that was released theatrically on April 27, 1979. It was directed by Noel Nosseck, written by Larry Bischof and James Proctor, and stars Tim Matheson as "the Dreamer" and Susan Blakely as Karen.Dreamer was released by 20th Century Fox through Magnetic Video for home entertainment.

Story

A young man dreams and struggles to become a championship bowler, knowing that determination and sacrifice must come first.

Tim Matheson is the Dreamer in this story which many saw as heavily inspired by Rocky. "Dreamer" is a ten-pin whiz in his small town of Alton IL, but wants to make it in the big time on the professional tour. Ultimately, he does, with the help of irascible manager Harry (Jack Warden) and faithful girlfriend Karen (Susan Blakely). As if to underline the resemblances between Dreamer and its cinematic role model, the musical score is by Rocky's Bill Conti.

Bowling legend Dick Weber appears at the movie's end as Johnny Watkin.
