Santos Ltd. is a large, predominantly Australian owned oil and gas company. Its name is an acronym for South Australia Northern Territory Oil Search.

Operations

Santos is one of Australia's largest domestic gas producer, supplying sales gas to all mainland Australian states and territories, ethane to Sydney, and oil and liquids to domestic and international customers. The company's core business was built on gas and oil discoveries in the Cooper Basin, predominantly spanning north-east South Australia and South West Queensland. These gas reserves are the main source of natural gas to Australia's eastern states. Santos is the primary venture partner and operator of natural gas processing facilities at Moomba (in South Australia) and Ballera (in Queensland), and pipelines connecting those facilities with Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Rockhampton and Mount Isa.

It has made significant discoveries in the Browse Basin, off the northwest of Western Australia. On 22 August 2014 the company announced a major gas-condensate discovery at the Lasseter-1 exploration well in WA-274-P in the basin, in which Santos has a 30% interest in company with Chevron (50%) and Inpex (20%). It was the second major discovery by the company in the area in two years.

Santos F.C. (South Africa)

Santos Football Club or simply Santos, also known under their sponsored title as Engen Santos, is a South African football club based in the Lansdowne suburb of the city of Cape Town that plays in the National First Division.

History

The club was established in Heideveld on the Cape Flats in 1982 and was originally known as Lightbodys Santos FC. During apartheid it was renowned for the insistence on non-racial inclusivity – hence the nickname The People's Team.

They played in the Federation Professional League (FPL), the only truly non-racial football body in the country from 1982 to 1990. They won the championship in 1983/4/6/7/8/90 before joining the National Soccer League.

The NSL became the PSL in 1996, with Santos earning promotion to the new league for the 1997-98 season. Santos tasted their first success in the new format of the league in 2001–02 when they surprisingly won the title under the mentorship of Gordon Igesund. This side featured players like Edries Burton, Andre Arendse, Musa Otieno and the club's all-time top goalscorer Jean-Marc Ithier. With the title win Santos became the first - and to date the only - team that was not a founder-member of the PSL to win the league.

Avenue (landscape)

In landscaping, an avenue or allée is traditionally a straight path or road with a line of trees or large shrubs running along each side, which is used, as its French source venir ("to come") indicates, to emphasize the "coming to," or arrival at a landscape or architectural feature. In most cases, the trees planted in an avenue will be all of the same species or cultivar, so as to give uniform appearance along the full length of the avenue. The French term allée is used for avenues planted in parks and landscape gardens, as well as boulevards such as the Grande Allée in Quebec City, Canada, Bologna Alley in Zagreb and Karl-Marx-Allee in Berlin.

History

The avenue is one of the oldest ideas in the history of gardens. An avenue of sphinxes still leads to the tomb of the pharaoh Hatshepsut (died 1458 BCE); see the entry Sphinx. Avenues similarly defined by guardian stone lions lead to the Ming tombs in China. British archaeologists have adopted highly specific criteria for "avenues"-avenue (archaeology), within the context of British archaeology.

Avenue (band)

Avenue are an English boy band. They participated in the third series of The X Factor in 2006 and initially made it to the final 12, but were banned from participation for having been specifically formed for the competition and having professional representation. They continued to proclaim their innocence.

After leaving The X Factor, they stayed together and had brief success with the single "Last Goodbye", which reached the UK top 50. After the split, Max George went on to become a member of the British-Irish boyband The Wanted, releasing a number of top 5 hits, two official UK number ones, and three top 10 albums. Jamie Tinkler left to form the indie band Baxter, and his replacement in Avenue, Andy Brown, went on to be the lead singer of Lawson, who have released five top 5 singles.

History

2005–06: Beginnings

Max George was born in 1988 grew up with his family in Manchester Before music, he had been a football player with Preston North End and on the verge of signing a two-year deal with them. But because of an accident he had dropped his sport dreams to join Avenue and apply for auditions in The X Factor. After the break-up of the band, he joined the successful chart topping boy band The Wanted. George was engaged to actress Michelle Keegan, but called off the engagement. Despite the calling off of their engagement, the couple remained together for some time. However, they have now split up due to rumours spreading about Max cheating.

137 Avenue, Edmonton

137 Avenue is a major arterial road in north Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This road travels through residential, industrial and commercial areas, including shopping and entertainment centres and districts.

The road starts at Ray Gibbon Drive, in southwest St. Albert, Big Lake being west of there. It links south St. Albert with Ray Gibbon Drive (St. Albert's West Bypass Road), by way of Riel Drive and Sir Winston Churchill Avenue. Within St. Albert the road is named LeClair Way. After entering Edmonton, at Sir Winston Churchill Avenue, it passes under Anthony Henday Drive, and continues through north Edmonton.

137 Avenue passes Golden West Golf Course and St. Albert Trail Golf Course between 170 Street, and St. Albert Trail (Mark Messier Trail). Past there is the St. Albert Trail and Pembina commercial areas, and Castle Downs neighbourhood. The avenue between Castle Downs Road and 97 Street forms the southern boundary of the old CFB Griesbach. At 97 Street (Highway 28) the road passes through the northgate commercial area with Northgate Centre and North Town Centre, and at 66 Street it passes Londonderry Mall. 137 Avenue again passes through commercial districts at Manning Drive and 50 Street, the latter being called Clareview Town Centre, and between which the LRT passes over. One final commercial area is located by Victoria Trail before 137 Avenue turns into 20 Street NW at Hermitage Park.
