Doug Ford, Jr.

Douglas Bruce Ford, Jr. (born November 20, 1964) is a Canadian businessperson and politician in Toronto, Ontario. Ford was Toronto City Councillor for Ward 2 Etobicoke North in Toronto from 2010 to 2014 at the same time that his brother, Rob Ford, was mayor of Toronto. Their father, Doug Ford, Sr., was a Member of Provincial Parliament from 1995 to 1999 and founded Deco Labels and Tags, a printing business operating in Canada and the United States. The business is now owned by Doug Ford, Jr., who has served as company president since 2002, and his two brothers.

Early life

Ford was born in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada, one of four children of Ruth Diane (Campbell) and Doug Ford, Sr.

An investigative report by The Globe and Mail published in May 2013 alleged that Ford sold hashish at James Gardens for several years in the 1980s. A quarter pound allegedly cost between $400 and $425. Ford denied the allegations. He said he planned to sue the newspaper for libel, but has yet to do so.

Douglas Bruce Ford, Sr. (February 27, 1933 – September 22, 2006) was a Canadian businessperson and politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a Progressive Conservative member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1995 to 1999 who represented the riding of Etobicoke—Humber.

Background

Ford was born in 1933 in Toronto, the son of Celia McNicol and Ernest Ford, both immigrants from England. He grew up in the Danforth area of East York, Ontario. The youngest of 9 children, he was raised by a single mother. Ford was a businessperson who, along with Ted Herriott, co-founded Deco Labels & Tags Limited of Rexdale, Ontario in 1962.

He and his wife, Diane, had four children: Randy, Kathy, Doug Jr. and Rob. Rob was Mayor of Toronto from 2010 to 2014. Rob and then Doug Jr. served as City Councillor for Ward 2 - Etobicoke North, 2006 to 2010 and 2010 to 2014, respectively. Randy runs the day-to-day operations of Deco.

Politics

Ford was elected to the provincial legislature in the 1995 provincial election, defeating incumbent Liberal Jim Henderson by about 4,500 votes in Etobicoke—Humber. For the next four years, he sat as a backbench supporter of Mike Harris's government.

Doug Ford (musician)

Doug Ford is an Australian rock guitarist and songwriter since the 1960s. During 1968–1972, Ford was the lead guitarist in the Australian pop-rock band The Masters Apprentices and established a successful writing partnership with the group's lead singer Jim Keays.

Biography

Ford was born in Casino, New South Wales on 26 January 1945. He first came to prominence in the mid-1960s in Sydney as a member of the second incarnation of Australian rock group The Missing Links (1965–66). This was followed by a stint in the Links' Melbourne-based successor Running, Jumping, Standing Still|Running Jumping Standing Still (1966–67).

From 1968 to 1972, Ford was the lead guitarist in the popular Australian pop-rock band The Masters Apprentices and he established a successful writing partnership with the group's lead singer Jim Keays.

The version of the group that included Ford, Keays, bassist Glenn Wheatley and drummer Colin Burgess made some of the band's most successful recordings, including the singles "5:10 Man", "Turn Up Your Radio", "Because I Love You" and "Love Is" and the album Choice Cuts (1971), which was recorded at the Abbey Road Studios in London.
