Doug Armstrong

Douglas Armstrong (born September 24, 1964) is the general manager for the NHL's St. Louis Blues. He is also a former general manager of the Dallas Stars.

Armstrong joined the Dallas Stars organization in 1991, and was appointed as General Manager January 25, 2002. He won the Stanley Cup as an assistant general manager with the Stars in 1999. Armstrong replaced Bob Gainey as GM of the Stars with 32 games to go in the 2001-02 NHL season, and one of his first moves was hiring Dave Tippett as head coach. Armstrong is the son of NHL Hall of Fame linesman Neil Armstrong, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1991.

On November 13, 2007, in the wake of a 7–7–3 start and a colossal meltdown by the team in Los Angeles (losing 6–5 in OT after leading 4–0 with 7 minutes remaining in the game), Doug Armstrong was relieved of his duties as the GM for the Stars and was replaced by former Stars player Brett Hull and assistant GM Les Jackson as interim co-GM's. During Armstrong's tenure, the Dallas Stars went 210–109–35–23. Some important moves Armstrong made during his time as GM of the Stars include the drafting of players like Trevor Daley, James Neal, Loui Eriksson and Jamie Benn. He also made a trade for Mike Ribeiro in exchange for Janne Niinimaa which turned out to be beneficial for Dallas' offence.

Douglas Warwick "Doug" Armstrong QSO JP (13 April 1931 – 18 February 2015) was a New Zealand cricketer, television sports broadcaster and local-body politician. He served as mayor of Rodney District from 1992 to 2000.

Cricket career

Born in Wellington in 1931, Armstrong was a slow left-arm orthodox bowler and tail-end batsman. He played two first-class matches for Central Districts in the 1958-59 season, and also appeared for both Manawatu and Wanganui in four Hawke Cup matches between 1956 and 1964.

Broadcasting career

Armstrong was a sports presenter on TVNZ in the 1980s.

Political career

Armstrong was elected mayor of Rodney District in 1992, succeeding Sir Gordon Mason. He was re-elected at the local-body elections in 1995 and 1998, but council in-fighting led to his resignation in 2000.

In the 1998 Queen's Birthday Honours Armstrong was appointed a Companion of the Queen's Service Order for public services. He died in Whanganui in 2015.

Doug Armstrong (born 22 May 1992) is a British web video star, YouTube blogger, and presenter who reached over 169,000 subscribers on his YouTube account. He is famous for his "Life Hack" videos but also known for content such as cooking, lifestyle, food, music, travel and vlogging. He is primarily a YouTube vlogger although he is also a presenter. He resides in London, United Kingdom.

He was invited to Malawi, Africa to support the Sightsavers charity. He has collaborated with other YouTube personalities, including Joey Graceffa. In February 2015 he created a chocolate maze made entirely out of chocolate fingers with the help of a food artist and built to the model of the size in the film The Maze Runner to celebrate the film's DVD and Blu-ray release and help promote the film. For this he was featured in The Daily Mail. More recently he interviewed Bella Thorne for her role in the film The Duff. He officially came out as gay in 2015 but told viewers in his video that coming out should not be a big deal. He is also known to be a fan of the boy band The Vamps (British band) which he has interviewed. He helped out in a song by The Vamps as part of an effort to raise money and awareness for the Teenage Cancer Trust. He has made parodies of music videos, including Justin Bieber's Calvin Klein ad. In 2015, alongside other YouTube creators, he presented the Microsoft DoAnything advertisement.
