'Ten Love Songs' and its lead single 'Fade Away' became a commercial success in Sundfør's home country both receiving a gold certification.

Themes

Sundfør said in an interview, "When I first started to work on the album, I wanted to make an album about violence, and then, as I was writing the songs, there were violent aspects, but they were usually about love or relationships, how you connect with other people. And in the end, that turned out to be 10 love songs."

    Love Songs

    It's over and done
but the heartache lives on inside
and who is the one you're clinging to instead of me
    tonight?
And where are you now, now that I need you?
Tears on my pillow ,wherever you go
    and cry me a river
    that leads to your ocean
You'll never see me fall apart
In the words of a broken heart
    it's just emotion
    that's taking me over
    tied up in sorrow
    lost in my soul
and if you don't come back
    come home to me darling
you know that there'll be nobody left in this world to hold me tight,
nobody left in this world to kiss goodnight,
    Goodnight, goodnight
    I'm there at your side,
I'm part of all the things you are
and you've got a part of someone else
you've gone to find your shining star
And where are you now, now that I need you?
Tears on my pillow ,wherever you go
    and cry me a river
    that leads to your ocean
You'll never see me fall apart
In the words of a broken heart
    it's just emotion
    that's taking me over
    tied up in sorrow
    lost in my soul
and if you don't come back
