Domjur is a census town in Sadar subdivision of Howrah district in the Indian state of West Bengal.
Domjur is located at 22°38′N 88°13′E / 22.64°N 88.22°E / 22.64; 88.22. It has an average elevation of 11 metres (36 feet).
As of 2001 India census, Domjur had a population of 16,822. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Domjur has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 73% and, female literacy is 65%. In Domjur, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age. Sastitala is the most biggest area of Domjur after 2005. Domjur has a large number of population belonging to Schedule Caste group. The majority of population is Hindu, but a notable portion of population is Muslim. Major festivals of the area are Durga Puja, Holi, Kali Puja, Diwali and Eid. Nowadays, Domjur Annual Book Festival is gaining popular attention. This fair is held in December and many celebrated artists and musicians perform at the fair.

Domjur (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of No. 27 Sreerampur (Lok Sabha constituency).Domjur was earlier part of Howrah (Lok Sabha constituency).
In the 2006 state assembly elections Mohanta Chatterjee of CPI(M) won the Domjur seat defeating his nearest rival Rajib Banerjee of Trinamool Congress. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Padma Nidhi Dhar of CPI(M) defeated Brajamohan Majumdar of Trinamool Congress in 2001, Bhabani Prasad Bhattacharya of Congress in 1996, and Sachin Ray of Congress in 1991. Joykesh Mukherjee of CPI(M) defeated Sachin Ray of Congress in 1987, Mahadeb Manna of Congress in 1982, and Krishna Pada Roy of Congress in 1977.
