Apache

The Apache (/əˈpætʃiː/; French: [a.paʃ]) are culturally related Native American tribes from the Southwestern United States and Northern Mexico. These indigenous peoples of North America speak Southern Athabaskan languages, which are related linguistically to Athabaskan languages in Alaska and western Canada.

Apache people traditionally have lived in Eastern Arizona, Northern Mexico (Sonora and Chihuahua), New Mexico, West Texas, and Southern Colorado. Apacheria, their collective homelands, consisted of high mountains, sheltered and watered valleys, deep canyons, deserts, and the southern Great Plains. The Apache tribes fought the Spanish and Mexican peoples for centuries. The first Apache raids on Sonora appear to have taken place during the late 17th century. In 19th-century confrontations, the U.S. Army found the Apache to be fierce warriors and skillful strategists.

Apache groups are politically autonomous. The major groups speak several different languages and developed distinct and competitive cultures. The current division of Apache groups includes Western Apache, Chiricahua, Mescalero, Jicarilla, Lipan, and Plains Apache (also known as the Kiowa-Apache). Apache groups live in Oklahoma and Texas and on reservations in Arizona and New Mexico. Apache people have moved throughout the United States and elsewhere, including urban centers.

List of Hollows in Bleach

In the fictional Bleach manga/ anime universe, a hollow (虚(ホロウ, horō) is a monstrous ghost that ought to be slain and purified or else it will feed on other souls. Many of the series' antagonists are hollows; also, the fictional universe also has hollows with Soul Reaper(a death-related entity)-like characteristics called arrancars (破面(アランカル), arankaru, Spanish for "to tear off," kanji translates as "broken mask"). One of the series' main storylines has Sōsuke Aizen (the primary antagonist for the majority of the series) and his arrancars (particularly the ten Espadas, the strongest ones) as the force opposing the protagonists.

The creator of the series, Tite Kubo, used many Spanish motifs for the series' hollow-related elements. The fictional creatures have been praised by reviewers for the early hollows' strong emotional ties to their victims and the "interesting" concept of the arrancar; the visual appearance of the characters have also been commented on.

Team17

Team17 Digital Ltd, founded as 17-Bit Software and later named Team17 Software Ltd, is a British video game developer. They are best known for creating the Worms and Alien Breed video game series. Most of their early releases were on the Amiga home computer system and featured trademark smooth scrolling, and detailed cartoonish art. Team17 now develops for Microsoft Windows, Android, iOS and video game consoles.

History

The company was originally called 17-Bit Software, which grew out of the Microbyte retail chain in 1987, and specialised in cataloguing, producing and publishing an Amiga public domain software library. 17-Bit Software was controversial as it sold demos from the Amiga demoscene which were not released as public domain, without having any agreements with the demo groups, or attempting to reimburse them as most were busy with pirate games BBS. Having said this, the early 17 Bit Software Club was actually submission based since internet was not about for most people. Cracktro intros for the early intro packs largely submitted by the coders in 1988. The intro disk later saw the start of the Amiga mega demo to some extent. During the formation of Team17, Martin Brown actively recruited coders and artists from the Amiga demo scene, to program games for Team17. Few demo disks were ever sold, most sales were made for freeware games and utility disks such as the virus checkers.

Self (programming language)

Self is an object-oriented programming language based on the concept of prototypes. Self was a dialect of Smalltalk, being dynamically typed and using just-in-time compilation (JIT) as well as the prototype-based approach to objects: it was first used as an experimental test system for language design in the 1980s and 1990s. In 2006, Self was still being developed as part of the Klein project, which was a Self virtual machine written fully in Self. The latest version is 4.5.0 released in January 2014.

Several just-in-time compilation techniques were pioneered and improved in Self research as they were required to allow a very high level object oriented language to perform at up to half the speed of optimized C. Much of the development of Self took place at Sun Microsystems, and the techniques they developed were later deployed for Java's HotSpot virtual machine.

At one point a version of Smalltalk was implemented in Self. Because it was able to use the JIT this also gave extremely good performance.

Self (band)

Self (stylized as sElf or SeLF) is an American alternative pop/rock band from Murfreesboro, Tennessee and is largely the creative vision of writer, singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Matt Mahaffey.

Though it is not considered a band and not a solo project, Matt Mahaffey is the primary performer of all instrumentation and vocals on studio albums. Other members have contributed occasional parts on albums and have participated in live performances. The band currently consists of Chris James (keyboards, piano, samplers, guitar, backing vocals), Mac Burrus (bass guitar, keyboards, horns, backing vocals), and Jason Rawlings (Drums). Past members include Matt's brother, Mike Mahaffey (lead guitar, keyboards, vocals) and Timm Nobles (bass guitar). Mahaffey cites Electric Light Orchestra, Prince, and Pixies as some of his biggest musical influences.

Band history

Self began with founders Matt and Mike Mahaffey recording songs in their childhood home in the early 90s, following brief forays with other groups. The band's debut album, Subliminal Plastic Motives, was released in 1995 on the Spongebath Records, a label the Mahaffeys helped found. During this early period, the band featured Matt on vocals and guitar, Mike on lead guitar, Tim Nobles on bass, Chris James on keyboards and samplers, and Jason Rawlings on drums.

Stef Lang

Stef Lang (born Stephanie Jane Lang, December 30, 1988) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and producer who resides in New York City. Originally from the Vancouver Island town of Ladysmith, BC, Lang left home at 17 to move to Vancouver, BC and pursue her musical career. Lang, often booking her own shows, played every pub, bar, club and café she could, while honing her songwriting craft and interning at a recording studio where she learned how to produce. Known for engaging performances and edgy lyrics, Lang released her first full-length album, The Underdog, in May 2010, distributed by Hipjoint Music/Universal Music Canada. Her hit single, Mr. Immature achieved mainstream success when it peaked at #5 on The Billboard Chart for Canadian Emerging Artists. Lang is known for her vocal feature on Canadian radio hit "Rollin" by Toronto's rapper ISH, which was released via Warner Music Group in 2012. In 2013, her vocals were featured on "Last Chance" by EDM artist Kaskade from his Grammy nominated album Atmosphere. Lang also co-wrote and was featured on the song "All These Wounds" by EDM artist Ilan Bluestone and BT, which was released May 25, 2015 on the Anjunabeats Worldwide05 Compilation. Lang's third full-length album is set to release in 2015 as a two-part EP series.
