Djurgårdens IF Hockey
Djurgårdens IF Ishockeyförening (English: Djurgården IF Ice Hockey Club) is a professional ice hockey team based in Stockholm, Sweden, affiliated with the Djurgårdens IF umbrella organization. Djurgården is the most successful Swedish hockey team of all time, as 16-time Swedish Champions, 9-time runners-up, and leaders of the marathon table for the top flight of Swedish hockey, as well as two-time European Cup winners. Following two seasons in second-tier HockeyAllsvenskan, Djurgården has been promoted for play in the SHL for the 2014–15 season.
Djurgården's home arena is Hovet, with a capacity of 8,094, but high-profile matches such as derbies against AIK and some playoff games are played in the Ericsson Globe with its larger capacity of 13,850.
The most common nicknames for the team are "Järnkaminerna" (The Iron Stoves), "Stockholms stolthet" (The Pride of Stockholm) and "Mesta mästarna" (The Winners of Most Championships). Djurgården also has a supporters' club called Järnkaminerna, which it shares with the football department.

Djurgårdens Idrottsförening, usually shortened as Djurgårdens IF – commonly known as Djurgården ([ˈjʉːr.ˈɡoːɖɛn] or informally Djurgår'n [ˈjʉː(r)ɡɔɳ]); abbreviated as DIF ([diːf]) – is a Swedish sports club with several departments, located in Stockholm. The club is named after the island Djurgården in Stockholm, which originally was a Royal Hunting Park. A direct translation would be “Deergarden” or “Animalgarden”. The word “Djur” means animal but has the same derivation as the word “Deer”. “Idrottsförening” means “Sports Club” or “Sports Association”.
History
The club was founded in 1891 by a group of young athletes living on the island Djurgården in central Stockholm. Most of the founders were from the working class, and Djurgården maintained that profile for most of its early history, in sharp contrast with middle class rivals AIK. With an original focus on winter sports and athletics, the club quickly branched into other sports, becoming one of Sweden's most successful sports clubs of the 20th and 21st century. The club started playing association football in 1899 and soon started a derby rivalry with neighbouring club AIK, the so-called tvillingderbyt.

Djurgårdens IF Fotbollsförening (commonly known as Djurgården [ˈjʉːr.ˈɡoːɖɛn] or informally Djurgår'n [ˈjʉː(r)ɡɔɳ]; abbreviated DIF ([diːf]) is the association football department of Djurgårdens IF and is based at Tele2 Arena in Johanneshov, Stockholm.
Formed in 1891, the club has 11 national championship titles and 4 national cup titles. Djurgården has won their Swedish championships during three eras. The first one occurred during the 1910s when the club won four championships, the second during the 1950s and 1960s with the same amount of championships. The latest era occurred in the first half of the 00s: they finished second in 2001, won Allsvenskan and the cup – Svenska Cupen – in 2002, Allsvenskan in 2003, and Svenska Cupen in 2004, before winning Allsvenskan for a third time in 2005. They currently play in the top Swedish tier, Allsvenskan. The club is affiliated to the Stockholms Fotbollförbund.
History
Foundation
Djurgårdens IF was founded 12 March 1891 at a café in Alberget 4A on the island of Djurgården. Most of the founding members were young working class men. The first real football field in Stockholm was created in 1896. Djurgårdens IF's football department was formed in 1899, with the help of former GAIS-player Teodor Andersson. Djurgården played their first match in July 1899, a 1–2 loss against AIK.
