Life, released in 2001, is the second album by the American Christian pop rock band ZOEgirl. "With All of My Heart", "Here and Now", "Even If", "Dismissed" and "Plain" were released as singles.
All the songs from Life were either written or co-written by at least one ZOEgirl member.
"With All of My Heart" starts the album with a pumped up pop-worship song. It obtained the #1 position for 3 weeks on the CHR Charts, and featured in the top 5 on AC radio charts. It was covered by X.ado.
"Even If" is a euro-style dance track.
"Dismissed" is a dance pop/r&b song. The bold lyrics encourage young ladies to end ("dismiss") unhealthy relationships while also, ZOEgirl sings about not giving in to Satan.
"Waiting" is a slow song, and talks about the God waiting for individuals to come to Him.
"R U Sure About That?" consists of a mix of electronic pop and Spanish guitar; Beethoven's "Für Elise" is plucked out. The song talks about guys, girls, and the truth about life. At the end of the song, a Baroque-styled bridge includes a short "studio talk" and a transition to the next track.
ZOEgirl is an American Christian teen pop and pop rock band formed in 1999. The group comprised Chrissy Conway-Katina, Alisa Childers and Kristin Swinford-Schweain. They were signed to Sparrow Records from 1999 to 2006 and released their debut single "I Believe" in 2000. This song and their self-titled debut album ZOEgirl helped them become Sparrow's fastest selling artist of all time. With All of My Heart, the lead single for Life, was the group's only No. 1 Christian contemporary hit radio (CHR) single and led to the group receiving a GMA Dove Award for New Artist of the Year in 2002. By the end of 2003, over one million albums from ZOEgirl were sold.
As a response to the musical trends of the time, ZOEgirl changed their format from teen pop to pop rock with the release of "You Get Me" in 2003. Released as the lead single for their third album, Different Kind of Free, this was their only No. 1 Christian adult contemporary (AC) single. It also peaked at No. 2 on CHR, making it the second-highest ZOEgirl song on that chart. The group's musical change and the growing digital piracy at the time led to slower sales of ZOEgirl's music. Their highly anticipated fourth and final studio album Room to Breathe earned the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Top Heatseekers Album charts. It was ZOEgirl's least successful album in terms of US Christian radio airplay, with only "About You" and "Scream" released as singles and the latter being unsuccessful. Both songs were better received in Australia.
ZOEgirl, released in 2000, is the first studio album from Christian girl group ZOEgirl. It was released on August 15, 2000 through Sparrow Records. "I Believe", "Anything Is Possible", "No You" and "Living For You" were released as radio singles.
After the ZOEgirl group was formed, they immediately began to work on their self-titled album at a fast pace. They temporarily separated during the Christmas holidays of 1999 to pray about the album and the message they should record on it. After this, they realized that they wanted to talk about their relationships with God and the romantic relationships that people may face in life. Producers remarked that paper, drafting the debut album's content, was scattered all around the studio.
When the album's musical content was finished, ZOEgirl traveled to New York City to meet with a stylist for fashion suggestions regarding a photo shoot. After they agreed on what to wear, they traveled to Los Angeles, California for an entire photo shoot day. It is unknown whether the music video was also recorded in this city, but the similarities between the album art and the music video seem to suggest this to be true.
Dismissal or dismissed may refer to:
Dismissed is a reality television show on MTV that premiered in 2001. One person simultaneously takes two others on a date. Each of the daters chooses a place to go (total of 2 places), and the person running the date dismisses the person he/she likes the least. Each of the competing daters also has a time-out card. When used, the card allowed the competitor twenty minutes alone with his/her date.
An international version called Globally Dismissed aired as well. It was essentially the same, except each person came from a different country. Dismissed was revamped, and eventually replaced by the series Next.
How many times have you tried to pull one over on me?
Always mess with me and try to get the best of me
Lookin' back, all the pain that you put me through
Why would i fall for a fool like you?
Now you're talkin' like I've never played the game before
Save your empty words 'cause I don't wanna hear no more
Basically you're trying to take control of me
But you're not what i wanna be
I know everything about you
Yesterday has come and gone
I'd be better off without you
No lookin' back, I'm moving on
Never steal the song of my lips
I'll never bow down to give you a kiss, no
You'll never steal my innocence
You've been dismissed
Do your best to try to pull me down
I'm never goin' back even if I see you around, no
No, I'm never goin' down like this
You've been dismissed
Let me break it down one more time
No, you're never gonna change my mind
That was then this is now things are different
No, you're not what I'm livin' for
I know everything about you
It's funny how the tables turn
I'll be better off without you
Now you're the one who's gettin' burned!
Never steal, never steal, never steal
Never steal the song of my lips
I'll never bow down to give you a kiss, no
You'll never steal my innocence
You've been dismissed
Do your best to try to pull me down
I'm never goin' like it if I see you around, no
No, I'm never going down like this
You've been dismissed
On a falling star you got to where you are
And you think you've got the right to own my heart
But my affection doesn't lie in your direction
You want to hold me with a lock and key
Cover my eyes so i cannot see
But in the end we all know who wins
You are over, over, over
Never steal, never steal, never steal
You'll never steal the song of my lips
I'll never bow down to give you a kiss, no
You'll never steal my innocence
You've been dismissed
Do your best to try to pull me down
I'm never going back even if I see you around, no
No, I'm never going down like this
