Dice

Dice (singular die or dice; from Old French dé; from Latin datum "something which is given or played";) are small throwable objects with multiple resting positions, used for generating random numbers. Dice are suitable as gambling devices for games like craps and are also used in non-gambling tabletop games.

A traditional die is a rounded cube, with each of its six faces showing a different number of dots (pips) from 1 to 6. When thrown or rolled, the die comes to rest showing on its upper surface a random integer from one to six, each value being equally likely. A variety of similar devices are also described as dice; such specialized dice may have polyhedral or irregular shapes and may have faces marked with symbols instead of numbers. They may be used to produce results other than one through six. Loaded and crooked dice are designed to favor some results over others for purposes of cheating or amusement.

A dice tray, a tray used to contain thrown dice, is sometimes used for gambling or board games, in particular to allow dice throws which do not interfere with other game pieces.

Dice is an American rapper from Detroit, Michigan.

Biography

Dice began his career in 1992, signing with World One Records, who released his debut album, The 40 Made Me Do It through Raw Dogg Records. After touring with Ultramagnetic MCs, Ice Cube and Da Lench Mob, Dice began his association with Reel Life Productions, although he did not sign a contract with the label. Following appearances on Natas' Doubelievengod and Mastamind's EP Lickkuidrano, Dice released the album The Neighborhoodshittalka on Reel Life in 1996. Dice estimated that the album sold 200,000 copies, and claims to have received no royalties from the album.

Dice left Reel Life in 1996. After signing with another label, Dice formed Fallen Angelz entertainment with Russell Colvin and released the album Black Monday. Fallen Angelz recorded new material to complete the album. After recording another album, Red Rain, with Fallen Angelz, Dice claimed that Colvin took his name off the Fallen Angelz ownership papers and didn't fairly compensate him for his services,i gave dice 10,000 advance and he was broke 2 months later. Colvin claims that Dice agreed to put up $30,000 to bankroll the label, but never came up with his half to become part owner of the label. In 2003, Dice formed his own label, Big Head Records and released the mixtape Drug Abuse. In 2013 he started a new label called Self Medicated Records which went into a joint venture with producer, record executive Ralpheal "Bigg Reez" Dixon to released his latest album, Dice Presents: Monkey Joe Sicktapez Morfein. As of 2011, Colvin still alleges that Dice is still legally contracted to Fallen Angelz ent.

Horae

In Greek mythology the Horae (/ˈhɔːriː/ or /ˈhɔːraɪ/) or Hours (Greek: Ὧραι, Hōrai, pronounced [hɔ̂ːraj], "seasons") were the goddesses of the seasons and the natural portions of time. They were originally the personifications of nature in its different seasonal aspects, but in later times they were regarded as goddesses of order in general and natural justice. "They bring and bestow ripeness, they come and go in accordance with the firm law of the periodicities of nature and of life", Karl Kerenyi observed: "Hora means 'the correct moment'." Traditionally, they guarded the gates of Olympus, promoted the fertility of the earth, and rallied the stars and constellations.

The course of the seasons was also symbolically described as the dance of the Horae, and they were accordingly given the attributes of spring flowers, fragrance and graceful freshness. For example, in Hesiod's Works and Days, the fair-haired Horai, together with the Charites and Peitho crown Pandora—she of "all gifts"—with garlands of flowers. Similarly Aphrodite, emerging from the sea and coming ashore at Cyprus, is dressed and adorned by the Horai, and, according to a surviving fragment of the epic Cypria, Aphrodite wore clothing made for her by the Charites and Horai, dyed with spring flowers, such as the Horai themselves wear.

Disease

A disease is a particular abnormal condition, a disorder of a structure or function, that affects part or all of an organism. The causal study of disease is called pathology. Disease is often construed as a medical condition associated with specific symptoms and signs. It may be caused by factors originally from an external source, such as infectious disease, or it may be caused by internal dysfunctions, such as autoimmune diseases. In humans, "disease" is often used more broadly to refer to any condition that causes pain, dysfunction, distress, social problems, or death to the person afflicted, or similar problems for those in contact with the person. In this broader sense, it sometimes includes injuries, disabilities, disorders, syndromes, infections, isolated symptoms, deviant behaviors, and atypical variations of structure and function, while in other contexts and for other purposes these may be considered distinguishable categories. Diseases usually affect people not only physically, but also emotionally, as contracting and living with a disease can alter one's perspective on life, and one's personality.

Disease (song)

"Disease" was released on September 30, 2002 as the first single from Matchbox Twenty's third album, More Than You Think You Are. It was co-written by Matchbox Twenty lead singer Rob Thomas and The Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger. The song peaked at #29 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Disease" was one of two songs written and presented to Mick Jagger, by Rob Thomas in which Jagger actually gives back the song, saying "it would sound better coming from you".

Music video

The video, directed by Phil Harder, starts with a man turning on his colorful boombox, then roller skating over a wide section of New York City, amid images of the band illuminated on moving billboards. During the second chorus, we see the band performing in a large outdoor roller-rink, complete with a disco ball. They are surrounded by a crowd dancing along, and to begin the 3rd chorus, Rob slides off the stage on all fours onto the dance floor past the crowd. At the end of the song, the roller skater shuts off his beat box and then proceeds up some stairs, presumably to his home.
