Witch (Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode)

"Witch" is the third episode of the first season of the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003). It serves as the show's first regular episode after the Pilot and originally aired in the United States on March 17, 1997, on The WB Television Network. Sometimes billed as "The Witch", the episode was directed by Stephen Cragg and was the first episode not written by Joss Whedon, the show's creator. It's even the first of mere eight with no vampire in it.

The premise of Buffy the Vampire Slayer involves an adolescent girl named Buffy Summers who is chosen by mystical forces and endowed with superhuman powers in order to defeat vampires, demons, and other evils in the fictional town of Sunnydale. She accomplishes this with the assistance of a close circle of friends and family. In "Witch", Buffy attempts to maintain a level of normalcy in her life by auditioning for her school's cheerleading squad. However, Buffy and her friends must stop a fellow student from tampering with witchcraft in order to take competitors out of the running.

The Witch is a ballet made by John Cranko to Maurice Ravel's Piano Concerto No. 2 in G Major (1931). The premiere took place Friday, 18 August 1950 at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London.

Witch (Zamrock band)

Witch were a Zambian music rock (Zamrock) band formed in the 1970s.

Widely seen as the most popular Zambian band of the 70's, Witch (an acronym for 'We Intend to Cause Havoc') were formed during Zambia's golden post-independence days, and were headed by Emanuel “Jagari” Chanda.

With the economy collapsing in the late 1970s, and increasing government authoritarianism, Witch, like most Zamrock bands, were reduced to playing daytime shows to avoid the curfews, and faded away.

As of 2013, Jagari is touring again.

I Am... Sasha Fierce

I Am... Sasha Fierce is the third studio album by American recording artist Beyoncé. It was released on November 15, 2008, by Music World Entertainment and Columbia Records. In its initial release, the album was formatted as a dual disc, intending to market Beyoncé's contrasting facets of artistry. The first disc, I Am..., contains slow and midtempo pop and R&B ballads, while the second, Sasha Fierce (named after Beyoncé's on-stage alter ego), focuses on more uptempo beats that blend electropop and Europop genres. In composing the songs' lyrics, Beyoncé worked with many writers, with each session accompanied by live orchestration.

Beyoncé credited both her husband, rapper Jay Z, and jazz singer Etta James for inspiring her to push the limits of her songwriting and artistry. Musically, I Am... drew inspiration from folk and alternative rock, while blending acoustic guitar elements into contemporary ballads. The tracks on the first disc were written and produced by Beyoncé, during collaborative efforts with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Christopher "Tricky" Stewart, Terius "The-Dream" Nash and Ryan Tedder. Sasha Fierce boasted production from Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins and Sean "The Pen" Garrett. The album received generally lukewarm reviews from critics, many of whom felt that it does not properly differentiate the double-discs' contrasts and goals.

Disappear (No Angels song)

"Disappear" is a song recorded by all-female German pop group No Angels, taken from Destiny Reloaded (2008), the reissue of their fourth studio album Destiny (2007). It was written by Norwegian singer-songwriter Hanne Sørvaag along with Danish musicians Remee and Thomas Troelsen, the latter of which also handled production on the track. A mid-paced pop song that is built on a ticking clock sample, the song is influenced by elements of Europop and synthpop. Its instrumentation consists essentially of synthesizers and keyboards. Lyrically, it finds the protagonist thinking deeply over her relationship with her love interest from whom she parted; however, she still pines for him and feels self-conscious for doing so.

A shortened version of the song served as Germany's entry for the 53rd Eurovision Song Contest 2008 in Belgrade, having earned tight 50.5% of the audience vote over solo singer Carolin Fortenbacher at the national pre-selection show, Grand Prix Vorentscheid, in March 2008. In the final show of the ESC, on 24 May 2008, the song finished 23rd (out of 25) in the final voting, having earned a total of fourteen points only. Released as a single on 29 February 2008 in German-speaking Europe, the song reached number 4 on the German Singles Chart, where it became the band's biggest-selling single since their reformation in fall 2006. "Disappear" also reached the top 30 of the Hungarian Airplay Chart, the top 40 of the Ö3 Austria Top 40 and peaked at number 21 on the composite Eurochart Hot 100 Singles chart.

"Disappear" is a song by American rock band Motion City Soundtrack, released on October 19, 2009 as the lead single from the group's fourth studio album, My Dinosaur Life (2010). The song's music video was released on November 19, 2009.

Background

"Disappear" was considered by frontman Justin Pierre to be the darkest on the album, trying to capture a "crazy energy" that he felt he lacked on the band's previous effort, Even If It Kills Me (2007). Much of the group too considered it a more "evil, […] progressive" cut. The song, like album track "Delirium", drop Jesse Johnson's keyboards from the band's sound.

Release and reception

In October 2009, the band released the song as a free download on their website, with a music video online for the song on November 19, 2009.

Alternative Press considered it "dark, swirling second-wave emo recalling the best the mid-to-late '90s underground had to offer."
