The Diocese of Imus (Latin:Dioecesis Imusensis) comprises the entire province of Cavite. The diocese was established and canonically erected as a separate diocese from the Archdiocese of Manila on November 25, 1961. The diocesan Cathedral of Our Lady of the Pillar, better known as the Imus Cathedral, located along Gen. Castañeda St. in the poblacion of the City of Imus, serves as the seat of the diocese. It is one of the 12 cathedrals founded by the Order of Augustinian Recollects in the Philippines.
The diocese is home to around 2,210,000 Roman Catholics dispersed across two episcopal districts, 11 vicariates, 57 parishes, 4 quasi-parishes, 8 pastoral centers, a catholic community, a national shrine (Our Lady of La Salette), and 2 diocesan shrine. There are a total of 184 priests in the diocese, 95 of which are diocesan and 89 are religious.
In 2011, the Diocese of Imus celebrated its Golden Jubilee since its establishment as a diocese in 1961. Activities were held within the diocese to mark the momentous event. Prior to the occasion, the celebration of the 5th Asian Youth Day in 2009 was also held in the diocese.
Imus, officially the City of Imus (Filipino: Lungsod ng Imus), is the officially designated capital city of the province of Cavite in the Philippines.
