Diet Rite

Diet Rite is a brand of no-calorie soft drinks originally distributed by the RC Cola company. It was introduced in 1958 and initially released as a dietetic product, but was introduced nationwide and marketed to the general public as a healthful beverage in 1962. The original formula was sweetened with cyclamate and saccharin.

Today it is owned by and distributed by Dr Pepper Snapple Group (known until 2008 as Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages), after the merger with Dr Pepper/Seven Up. Product containers, however, still bear the Dr Pepper/Seven Up markings.

The early 1960s broadcast media advertising campaign featured a jingle with the lyrics:

Reformulation

  • By 1969, the Food and Drug Administration banned cyclamate, forcing the beverage to be reformulated with saccharin.
  • Diet Rite was reformulated in 1983 to eliminate sodium, making it the first sodium-free diet soda.
  • In 1987, after having used a blend of the two sweeteners, the saccharin was replaced entirely with NutraSweet brand aspartame and eliminating caffeine altogether.
  • Rite²

Rite² is an ambient music album by Julian Cope, released in 1997. It is technically Cope’s fourteenth solo album, but is also the follow-up to the earlier album Rite (released in 1992 and credited to "Julian Cope & Donald Ross Skinner") and is the second in the Rite series.

For Rite², Cope collaborated extensively with synthesizer player Thighpaulsandra (Coil, Spiritualized) although the album was credited to Cope alone. The album has been described as a tribute of sorts to Krautrock bands such as Amon Duul II and Tangerine Dream and is based on the sound of the Mellotron and the wah-wah guitar, although it also employs miscellaneous tone generators the ARP 2600 synthesizer and the Hammond B3 organ, as well as vocal chants.

Rite² was the debut release on Cope’s Head Heritage label, which would be the home of almost all of his future recordings.

    Rite

A rite or ritual is an established, ceremonial, usually religious, act. Rites in this sense fall into three major categories:

  • rites of passage, generally changing an individual's social status, such as marriage, adoption, baptism, coming of age, graduation, or inauguration;
  • communal rites, whether of worship, where a community comes together to worship, such as Jewish synagogue or Mass, or of another character, such as fertility rites and certain non-religious festivals;
  • rites of personal devotion, where an individual worships, including prayer and pilgrimages such as the Muslim Hajj, pledges of allegiance, or promises to wed someone.
  • Christian

Within Christianity, "rite" often refers to what is also called a sacrament or to the ceremonies associated with the sacraments. In Roman Catholicism, for example, the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is one of the three that are sometimes referred to as "the last rites", because they are administered to someone who was dying. The other two are Penance and Eucharist (administered as Viaticum in the case of a dying person). Since the Second Vatican Council, Anointing of the Sick is administered to those who are seriously ill but not necessarily in immediate danger of death.

    Rite (album)

Rite is an ambient album by Julian Cope and Donald Ross Skinner, released in 1992. It is the first album in the Rite series and has been described as "a series of lengthy, mostly instrumental jamming freakouts influenced by both Krautrock and psychedelic funk."

Aqua Teen Hunger Force (season 3)

The third season of the animated television series Aqua Teen Hunger Force originally aired in the United States on Cartoon Network's late-night programming block Adult Swim. Season three started on April 25, 2004 with "Video Ouija" and ended with "Carl" on October 24, 2004, with a total of thirteen episodes. Aqua Teen Hunger Force is about the surreal adventures and antics of three anthropomorphic fast food items: Master Shake, Frylock and Meatwad, who live together as roommates and frequently interact with their human next-door neighbor, Carl Brutananadilewski in a suburban neighborhood in South New Jersey.

In season three the cold openings featuring Dr. Weird and Steve were replaced with clips from the failed pilot Spacecataz, a potential spin-off of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Episodes in season three were written and directed by Dave Willis and Matt Maiellaro. Almost every episode in this season features a special guest appearance, which continues a practice used in past seasons. This season has been made available on DVD and other forms of home media, including on demand streaming on Hulu Plus.

So go ahead and talk about me,
    It only fuels my fire,
You won't take this home from me!
    This is my one desire,
They think they know about the time that's been spent,
Life that I lead, tears that I shed,
You won't take this from me,
    I'll never give in!
We chose to rise above the lies,
    The ignorance and the hypocrisy,
I'll never give in! I haven't lost faith, you won't take this from me!
Where has it gone, where did I go wrong,
I've got to stop blaming myself, why do I blambe myself?
People will talk and say what they want, this is my life, do what I like!
This is our life, let's do what feels right!
    That's right, 3-4-5-6-7 lates.
You can laugh and talk behind my back, it only fuels my fire,
    Go ahead and laugh,
    Stab me in the back,
