Diabolo

The diabolo (/diːˈæbəloʊ/ dee-AB-ə-loh; commonly misspelled diablo) is a juggling prop consisting of an axle and two cups or discs. This object is spun using a string attached to two hand sticks. A huge variety of tricks are possible with the diabolo, including tosses, and various types of interaction with the sticks, string, and various parts of the user's body. Multiple diabolos can be spun on a single string.

History and etymology

Diabolos evolved from the Chinese yo-yo, which was originally standardized in the 12th century. Chinese yo-yos have a longer axle with discs on either end, while the diabolo has a very short axle and larger, round cups on either end. Diabolos are made of different materials and come in different sizes and weights.

The term "diabolo" was not taken from the Italian word for "devil"—"diavolo"—but was coined by French engineer Gustave Phillippart, who developed the modern diabolo in the early twentieth century, and derived the name from the Greek dia bolo, roughly meaning "across throw".

Diablo (2015 film)

Diablo is a 2015 action-adventure American Film, the film is directed by Lawrence Roeck. Starring Scott Eastwood, Walton Goggins, Camilla Belle and Danny Glover. The story is about a young civil war veteran who is forced on a desperate journey to save his kidnapped wife. The film has received negative reviews, but some critics praised Scott Eastwood's performance.

We Can Do Anything is a comeback studio album set to be released by Violent Femmes on March 4, 2016. It is the first recording of a new Violent Femmes studio album in over 15 years, following the Happy New Year EP in April 2015. We Can Do Anything follows 2000's Freak Magnet and marks the group's ninth LP.

Issues is an American metalcore band formed in Atlanta, Georgia signed to Rise Records. The band currently consists of clean vocalist Tyler Carter, unclean vocalist Michael Bohn, bassist Skyler Acord, guitarist A.J. Rebollo, and percussionist Josh Manuel. Following Bohn and Carter's departure from their former band Woe, Is Me, they formed the band and recorded their debut EP, Black Diamonds, which was released on November 13, 2012 by Greg Long. After touring with bands such as Of Mice & Men, Beartooth, and Sleeping With Sirens, the band released the single "Hooligans" and began recording their self-titled debut album throughout 2013. In 2014, the band released their album Issues on February 18, 2014, and peaking at number 9 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, selling 22,000 copies within its first week.

History

Formation and Black Diamonds (2012–2013)

The project was first announced by former Woe, Is Me vocalist Tyler Carter in 2012, stating that he had plans to create a band with other former members of the band. This included; Michael Bohn, Cory Ferris and Ben Ferris. Before the band started to record their debut EP, titled Black Diamonds, both Cory and Ben Ferris were unable to attend the recording sessions and ultimately left the band. Ben Ferris departed from the band early in September 2012, while Cory Ferris decided to stay with the band until he announced his departure in November 2012. Skyler Acord played bass guitar on the band's debut EP, while his brother Tyler Acord played keyboards and turntables. Both of the Acord brothers were later asked to join the band after the departure of bassist Jake Vintson in early 2013.
