Dhemaji (Pron:deɪˈmɑ:ʤi or di:ˈmɑ:ʤi) (Assamese: ধেমাজি) is the headquarters of Dhemaji district, Assam, India. It is one of the remote districts of Assam.
The town's name "Dhemaji' is believed to be derived from a combination two Assamese words "dhal" meaning flood and "dhemali" meaning "play".
Dhemaji is located at 27°29′N 94°35′E / 27.48°N 94.58°E / 27.48; 94.58. It has an average elevation of 91 metres (298 feet). Dhemaji is located to the north of the river brahmaputra. To its north lies the Arunachal himalayas. To its east is the state, Arunachal Pradesh and to the west is lakhimpur, a district of Assam. It has many big and small rivers flowing through it. Some of them are Jiadhal, Gainodi, and Cemen. The river Subansiri flows by its western border.
The area of the present district was under the control of the Sutiya kings during their reign of over 400 years. Ruins of the erstwhile capital are still there but not well preserved. A number of monuments Ghuguha Dol, Ma Manipuri Than, Padumani Than built by the Ahom kings are worth visiting.
Got a mind but you don't want it
You're a cretin and you flaunt it
Wheels and gears without a movement
A head of straw would be an improvement
March of the morons
March of the morons
You don't read or write too well
Got sh*t for brains, can't stand the smell
Your cranium is lined with fur
And the outside world is just a blur
March of the morons
March of the morons
You like to dress up like a punk
Fucking, fighting, always drunk
But you've got a saving grace
You'll disappear without a trace
March of the morons
