Dharuhera is the fastest growingcensus town in the state of Haryana, India. Dharuhera comes under Delhi NCR region and it is an industrial hub. Dharuhera is a Yadav (Rao) dominated place. Dharuhera is the new growth corridor of Gurgaon and New Delhi. It is only an hour drive from the Indira Gandhi International Airport and 27 km from Gurgaon. It connects Rajasthan to the capital, New Delhi, through the National Highway 8. It is a prime choice for industrialists, investors, and real estate developers due to its location.
As of 2001 India census, Dharuhera had a population of 18,890. As of 2001 males constituted 57% of the population and females 43%. Dharuhera had an average literacy rate of 67%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy was 75% and, female literacy was 56%. 17% of the population was under 6 years of age. As of 2013, after rapid growth, the population is estimated to be 45,000.
The economy of Dharuhera was mainly agrarian dominated until recently. Dharuhera industrial estate has provided some employment to the local people. Of late, initiated by an industrial estate developed by the state of Haryana, much of the agricultural land has been developed by real estate developers. The Raos had collaborated with the British and were given thousands of acres of land by the colonial authorities. The fortune is now divided among the various Rao scions. They continue to be the most powerful and the richest family in Dharuhera. The Raos too have made a transition like the town they ruled: they have reinvented themselves as real estate moguls. As the urbanisation and construction activity extends from Delhi, Dharuhera is now a preferred location for investors in real estate and built properties.
