Derek Jones (civil servant, born 1927)

Derek John Claremont Jones CMG (Chinese: 鍾信; 2 July 1927 – 4 October 2008) was a British and Hong Kong government official and a Senior Fellow of the Trade Policy Research Centre in London. He originally served in the British civil service and was posted to the Hong Kong Government in 1971. In Hong Kong, he was the first to hold the post of Secretary for Economic Services under the reform in 1973 and had served as Secretary for the Environment, Secretary for Transport and Official Legislative Councillor before he was posted to Brussels serving as Minister for Hong Kong Relations with European Community and Member States in 1982. He subsequently retired from the government in 1986.

Early life

Jones was born in England, the United Kingdom on 2 July 1927 and was the eldest son of Albert Claremont Jones and Ethel Lilian Jones (née Hazell). He entered Colston School in Bristol and received further education in University of Bristol where he graduated with a BA degree. He later obtained a BSc degree with honours in economics in the London School of Economics and Political Science as well.

Falling in Reverse

Falling in Reverse is an American rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada, formed in 2008, signed to Epitaph Records. The band is led by lead singer Ronnie Radke along with lead guitarist Christian Thompson, rhythm guitarist Derek Jones, bassist Zakk Sandler and drummer Ryan Seaman. They released their debut album, The Drug In Me Is You, on July 26, 2011, which peaked at number 19 on the Billboard 200, selling 18,000 copies in its first week of sales. "Raised by Wolves", "The Drug in Me Is You", "I'm Not a Vampire", "Good Girls Bad Guys" and "Pick Up the Phone" were all released as singles to promote the album. Their second studio album, Fashionably Late, was released on June 18, 2013, which peaked at number 17 on the Billboard 200. "Alone", "Fashionably Late", "Born to Lead", and "Bad Girls Club" were released as singles to promote the album. The band released three singles, "God, If You Are Above..." , "Guillotine IV (The Final Chapter)", and "Sexy Drug", in promotion of their third album Just Like You, which was released on February 24, 2015. However, on February 17, the full album stream was uploaded to fallinginreverse.com.

Derek Jones (bishop)

Derek LS Jones (born 1961) is an American Anglican bishop with the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) serving in the Convocation of Anglicans in North America (CANA) and in the College of Bishops of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA). As the Bishop of the Special Jurisdiction of the Armed Forces and Chaplaincy, he trains, educates, ordains and directs the activities of all Anglican Chaplains who require formal ecclesiastical endorsement for CANA and the ACNA.

Responsibilities

Chaplains under Bishop Jones' oversight serve in the United States Armed Forces, Veteran’s Administration, Department of Justice, and other Federal and State agencies; as well as chaplains serving Hospitals, Hospices, Industry, Education, Law Enforcement and as Community Chaplains. Bishop Jones works with and through a variety of professional organizations such as the International Conference of Police Chaplains (ICPC), the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education, and the Professional Chaplains Association. Bishop Jones has served as an endorsing official since his consecration in January 2007 and is the founding bishop of the ACNA's chaplain ministry. The Deanery for the Chaplaincy (CANA) and the Office of Chaplain Ministry (ACNA) as a joint office was created in 2010. The Deanery for the Chaplaincy was designated a Diocese of CANA in March 2013. As the ministry has continued to grow, the need to modify the Canons of the ACNA became clear and a new canon was adopted in June 2014 whereby the Special Jurisdiction of the Armed Forces and Chaplaincy (JAFC) was created. While the CANA diocese still exists (primarily to continue to allow chaplains to be connected to the Anglican Communion through the Church of Nigeria), the Jurisdiction of the Armed Forces and Chaplaincy is the functional chaplain ministry. Bishop Jones will remain in the House of Bishops of the Church of Nigeria.

Derek Jones (civil servant)

Sir Derek Jones, KCB, CMG is a Welsh civil servant, the current permanent secretary to the Welsh Government.

Born and educated in Rumney, Cardiff, Jones then graduated from Cardiff University with a degree in philosophy.

On graduation he joined the civil service in Whitehall, London. After undertaking the post-graduate training scheme he joined HM Treasury, and then held positions in the Department of Trade and Industry. Jones then joined the Welsh Office in Cardiff in 1989, as Head of Industrial Policy. Holding a series of finance, investment and training positions over the following decade, as Senior Director in 1999 he became a key in the setting-up and early operations of the Welsh Assembly Government.

After failing to replace Sir Jon Shortridge as permanent secretary, in 2008 Jones left the civil service to join the governing board of Cardiff University as Director of Business and Strategic Partnerships with an honorary Professorship, tasked to commercialise the college's research and engage with business.

Derek Jones (footballer)

Derek Jones (24 April 1929 – 26 October 2006) was a footballer who played as right back for Tranmere Rovers.
