DENG is a Danish engineering, technology solutions provider and equipment supplier located in Accra, Ghana. It was founded in 1988 and the administrating director is John Schmidt.

History

Deng Network

DENG has a distribution network stretching throughout Ghana to assist with prompt delivery, installation and service requirements. Their dealers are hand picked for their experience and professionalism. Before an office is ever allowed to operate, all technicians and engineers working in that office must undergo a thorough training program, followed by meticulous examinations to achieve certifications. The network of the company is increasing daily and their goal is to be able to provide immediate service in all parts of Ghana.

Company (Heroes)

The Company refers to a fictional covert international organization in the NBC drama Heroes. Its primary purpose is to identify, monitor and study those individuals with genetically-derived special abilities. The Company played a central role in the plot of Volume Two, during the second season of the series. It is a very notable organization in the series and is connected to several of the characters.

Founders

In season two, Kaito Nakamura revealed that there were twelve founders of the Company, and a photo of the twelve is later seen (listed below under "Group photo"); it did not include Adam Monroe, an immortal human with the ability of rapid cellular regeneration, who is described as the one who "brought them all together." The Company began sometime between January 1977 and February 14, 1977. Monroe was locked away for thirty years on November 2, 1977, concluding that he only spent about 10 to 11 months with the Company. In the first season of the show, Daniel Linderman heads the Company until his demise. He is substituted in the second season by Bob Bishop, who is implied to be the Company's financial source. However, when Sylar kills him in the beginning of Season 3, Angela Petrelli takes over. Several of the founders have children who are posthumans and who are main characters within the series.

Deng (state)

The State of Deng (simplified Chinese: 邓国; traditional Chinese: 鄧國; pinyin: Dèng) was a Chinese vassal state during the Shang and Zhou Dynasties and the Spring and Autumn period (c. 1200 – 475 BCE) ruled by the Màn family (曼).

History

Shang dynasty King Wu Ding (武丁) (reigned 1250–1192 BCE) conferred the lands of the State of Deng on his younger brother Zĭ Màn (子曼) who passed it down to later generations. During the reign of Wú Lí (吾离) Deng became rich and powerful for a time but its influence declined with the rise of the hegemonies during the Spring and Autumn period.

In 688 BCE, King Wén of Chǔ had to pass through the State of Deng in order to attack the State of Shēn. Even though Dèng was the native area of Dèng Màn (邓曼), one of the wives of King Wén’s father King Wǔ of Chǔ (楚武王), the State of Deng lay on the borders of the State of Chu such that its overthrow would prove convenient for the expansion of Chu. Three vigilant chancellors of the State of Deng, Zhuīshēng (騅甥/骓甥), Dānshēng (聃甥) and Yǎngshēng (養甥/养甥) urged their lord to kill King Wén The Marquess of Deng did not listen. King Wén of Chu passed through the State of Deng and attacked the State of Shen. On his return the King attacked Deng. With the annexation of the States of Shen and Deng, the State of Chu extended its territory into the Nanyang Basin.

Deng /dəŋ/ (Chinese) is an East Asian surname. It is a transcription of 邓 (simplified Chinese character) or 鄧 (traditional). It is transliterated as Dèng in pinyin and Teng in Wade-Giles. In Cantonese, it is Dahng in Yale and Dang6 in Jyutping. In Minnan or Taiwanese, it is Tēng in Pe̍h-ōe-jī.
