Demonoid

Demonoid is a popular BitTorrent tracker and website that includes file-sharing related discussion forums and a searchable index for the tracker. The site has undergone intermittent periods of extended downtime due to the occasional need to move the server, generally caused by cancellation of ISP service due to local political pressure. In late 2013, the original Demonoid domain names came under the control of an unknown party, who launched a placeholder website promising the return of Demonoid and soliciting Bitcoin donations, and who in early 2014 began operating a tracker servicing the old Demonoid torrents. On March 29, 2014, the original Demonoid torrent archive returned via the website demonoid.ph. On December 3, 2014 Demonoid changed its domain name again to demonoid.pw

Features and policies

Demonoid features RSS with different feeds for each of its torrent categories and their sub-categories. It tracks and displays users' upload/download ratios, but, except in its early years, took no action against users with low ratios (members who take more than they share). Demonoid previously banned users with low ratios, but stopped doing so due to the ratio system being inaccurate for some users, such as those with dynamic IP addresses.

Demonoid (film)

Demonoid, also known as Demonoid: Messenger of Death, and Macabra: La mano del diablo, is a 1981 Mexican supernatural horror film written, produced, and directed by Mexican director Alfredo Zacarías and based on a story by Zacarías. The film centralizes on a group of explorers, who find a mysterious hand in Mexico that causes madness and death to whomever owns it.

Plot

300 years ago, in a mine located in Guanajuato, Mexico. A satanic cult built a temple where they sacrificed humans to the Devil by cutting off the left hand of their victims. In the present day, couple Mark and Jennifer Baines explore the temple where they find a small casket containing a severed hand which they take back to their hotel room. Later that night Mark opens the casket and is attacked and possessed by the hand. Fleeing to Las Vegas, he wins a fortune by gambling. Hating being possessed, Mark attempts to sever his left hand but is burned to death by his possessed hand. Mark's body is shipped to Los Angeles for burial. Jennifer arrives at Father Cunningham’s church where her husband is to be buried and warns the priest that her husband might still be possessed and requests that an autopsy be performed on the body.

Demonoid (band)

Demonoid is a Swedish extreme metal band founded in 2003 that derives its influences from traditional death metal, thrash metal and black metal.

Therion guitarist Kristian Niemann previously had the desire to produce more brutal music and had made earlier attempts with his brother Johan Niemann, although none of this earlier work had appeared on any records. Fellow Therion member Christofer Johnsson had later joined the project along with Rickard Evensand who was working with Therion as a drummer at that time.

History

So far they have released only one album, Riders of the Apocalypse, in 2004. The album is about the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Christofer never intended to tour and only joined as a session vocalist for the studio recording of the first album, and with two other members busy touring with Therion, Demonoid never played any live concerts.

On March 25, 2006, it was officially announced that Christofer Johnsson had withdrawn from Demonoid and that an unannounced replacement vocalist had been found. On October 7, 2007, the new singer was revealed to be Emperor Magus Caligula of Dark Funeral, and on the same day the new band website was opened. Since then, the band also opened a forum in which Kristian keeps fans up to date, leaving the website without updates since January 16, 2008.
