Jeremie Mondon, known by his stage name Demon, is a French artist and producer of electronic music born in 1977 in Paris. His music comes under the genre known as French touch.

Music career

The start of Demon's career was particularly influenced by the hip hop movement and artists such as Wu-Tang Clan, Nas, Mobb Deep and A Tribe Called Quest. These artists heavily influenced his first recordings and he still has close ties to rap music, as he produces music for French rappers. Soon after his spell with hip-hop he joined the French electronic scene.

In 1997 he created the label 20000ST, in order to produce his first EP, A-Typique. At 22, he signed for Sony record label and recorded his first studio album, Midnight Funk, considered by critics as one of the classic albums of French touch. Several thousand copies of his single, You Are My High, have been sold and the song is being played in clubs worldwide. Major artists within French touch such as Daft Punk, Mr. Oizo, Etienne de Crécy and Matthew Herbert, have asked him to remix their work.

Musician

A musician (or instrumentalist) is a person who plays a musical instrument or is musically talented. Anyone who composes, conducts, or performs music may also be referred to as a musician.

Musicians can specialize in any musical style, and some musicians play in a variety of different styles. Examples of a musician's possible skills include performing, conducting, singing, composing, arranging, and the orchestration of music.

Medieval musicians

In the Middle Ages, instrumental musicians performed with soft ensembles inside and loud instruments outdoors. Many European musicians of this time catered to the Roman Catholic Church, providing arrangements structured around Gregorian chant structure and Masses from church texts.

Renaissance musicians

Renaissance musicians produced music that could be played during masses in churches and important chapels. Vocal pieces were in Latin—the language of church texts of the time—and typically were Church-polyphonic or "made up of several simultaneous melodies." By the end of the 16th century, however, patronage split among many areas: the Catholic Church, Protestant churches, royal courts, wealthy amateurs, and music printing—all provided income sources for composers.

Musician (rank)

Musician (Mus) is a rank equivalent to Private held by members of the Corps of Army Music of the British Army and the Royal Marines Band Service. The rank was also previously used in the United States Army.

United States

The rank of Musician was a position held by military band members, particularly during the American Civil War. The rank was just below Corporal, and just above Private. In some units it was more or less equal to the rank of Private.

During the American Civil War, military leaders with the Union and Confederate Armies relied on military musicians to entertain troops, position troops in battle, and stir them on to victory — some actually performing concerts in forward positions during the fighting.

There were two types of historical traditions in military bands. The first was military field music. This type of music included bugles, bagpipes, or fifes and almost always drums. This type of music was used to control troops on the battlefield as well as for entertainment. One example of controlling the troops was the drum beats setting the march cadence for the troops. Following the development of instruments such as the keyed trumpet or the saxhorn family of brass instruments, a second tradition of the all brass military band was formed.

Musician (United States Navy)

Musician (abbreviated as MU) is a United States Navy occupational rating.

Musicians perform on one or more designated instruments to provide musical services onboard ships and at Armed Forces bases to inspire patriotism, elevate esprit de corps, enhance retention, and foster pride in the Naval service; provide musical services off base that reinforce recruiting efforts; provide musical services to the general public, therefore increasing community awareness, promoting respect, and enhancing the reputation of the Navy; and perform other musical skills as may be required in performance of the rating.

Fiends (album)

Fiends is the third album from the post-hardcore band Chasing Victory, released only months before the band officially broke up. This album is a change of style for the band. While their debut and EP had a solid post-hardcore sound similar to that of Glassjaw and Thursday, the sound for this album was changed. The band experimented with Southern rock, post-grunge, and even rock and roll, while still retaining their post-hardcore roots.

Screamin' Demon

The Screamin' Demon was a shuttle loop roller coaster at Kings Island in Mason, Ohio. Designed by Arrow Development, it opened in 1977 as one of the first looping roller coasters in the United States to run both forward and backward. After ten years of operation, the ride was moved to Camden Park.

History

Anton Schwarzkopf and Intamin AG co-developed the first shuttle loop design, which opened as King Kobra at Kings Dominion in 1977. A total of six shuttle loop roller coasters opened that same year throughout the United States. Screamin' Demon had the distinction of being the first from Arrow Development to open to the public. Unlike the vertical tracks used as reverse points at both ends on the King Kobra, Arrow used loading platforms instead.

At the end of the 1987 season, the ride was sold and relocated to Camden Park in West Virginia where it was renamed to Thunderbolt Express. It was closed in 2000 and never reopened. It was eventually scrapped in 2004.

Demon (volcano)

Demon (Russian: Демон; Ainu: カムイヌプリ, Kamui-nupuri; Japanese: 神威岳, Kamui-dake) is a stratovolcano located at the northern end of Iturup Island, Kuril Islands, Russia.

The Ilya Muromets Waterfall, one of the highest in Russia, falls abruptly from the eastern slope of the volcano into the Pacific Ocean.
