Track listing

Production notes

  • Recorded between March 1, 2007 – April 1, 2007 at Greenhouse Studios in Vancouver, Canada.
  • The album was produced, mixed and engineered by Devin Townsend.
  • Townsend contributed guitar work on the track "Full Imperial Collapse".
  • Engineered by Dean Maher.
  • Mastered by UE Nastasi.
  • Deliver Us (The Prince of Egypt)

"Deliver Us" is a song from the 1998 Dreamworks film The Prince of Egypt. This is the film's opening number, and runs for 7:15 minutes.

    Production

Stephen Shwartz explained his use of the word "Elohim" in the song:

The lullaby sung by Yochoved, Moses' mother, was performed by Ofra Haza. This was sung by Ofra in 18 out of the 21 languages the song was translated into. Eden Riegel is also a featured artist, while the music was composed by Hans Zimmer.

Christopher Coleman explained "Deliver Us features the powerful vocals I was hoping for combined with the enchanting voice of the Israeli singer, Ofra Haza. This track concludes with an abruptness which is very similar to the opening track of Zimmer’s Oscar winning score for "The Lion King".

Craky Critic notes "the visuals do not hold back on depicting the violence inherent in the slave system that kept the Hebrews in bondage and built such nice pyramids and such. The act of setting the baby Moses adrift in a basket is tinged with dangers never even hinted at in Bible stories. The whole sequence builds in direct correlation to the template laid down in "The Lion King".

    Sounds of a Playground Fading

Sounds of a Playground Fading is the tenth studio album by the Swedish metal band In Flames, released on June 15, 2011 through Century Media/Razzia. This is the first album recorded by In Flames without founding guitarist Jesper Strömblad, who left the band in February 2010 making it also the first In Flames release not to have two guitarists. The track "Deliver Us" was featured in the soundtrack to the video game Saints Row IV.

    Background

According to Anders, this album features increasingly wide vocal registers and reduced growls. In addition, some of the album's songs "pretty much go against the hard rock formula."

The entire album was written by Björn Gelotte. The guitar solos, unlike most other albums, were able to be pre-planned out and worked much better according to the in-studio report.

    Release and promotion

The band revealed the cover art, track listing and first single, "Deliver Us", on their official Facebook page in April and May 2011. Then on June 3, 2011, aol.com streamed the entire album on their music network. In Flames have played this album in their European tour with support from Noctiferia, as part of the Defenders of the Faith III tour with Trivium, Rise to Remain, Ghost and Insense, and with Trivium in their North American Tour.
