Defenseless is a 1991 film directed by Martin Campbell.
Lawyer T.K. represents Steven Seldes who claims he is innocent of involvement in making under-age porn movies. He is also her lover, so when she meets his wife things are awkward for her - he didn't say he was married and his wife turns out to be an old student friend. Next day she confronts him at his office and a fight ensues in which she injures him. When she returns later on, she finds Steven is dead, and has been stabbed 18 times. Upon finding Ellie's sweater on the crime scene, the Police arrest her for the murder, and T.K. agrees to defend her.
After the film's summer 1991 theatrical run, the film was released on videocassette by Live Home Video and around the same time in Canada by Cineplex Odeon. The film was released on DVD in 2002 by Platinum Disc, but is actually a cut TV edit of the film. It is also in full screen. The DVD is now discontinued and no plans have been announced to release a new one. There is however, a widescreen unedited DVD of the film that was released in Japan by Universal Studios Home Entertainment, under license from StudioCanal, in 2007.
We've heard the tales
Of the days that last forever
But the setting sun
Tells a story of it's own
We like to think
That our heroes live forever
But we find they're made of
Flesh and blood and bone
[chorus]
AS SOON AS YOU LET GO
AS SOON AS YOU BELIEVE
YOU FIND YOURSELF DEFENSELESS
TAKEN AND DECEIVED
We'd like to think
That this ship will sail forever
But the blowing wind
Can just as quickly die
We like to think
We can keep it all together
As it disintegrates
Right before our eyes
