Dear Evan Hansen

Dear Evan Hansen is an original musical written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, with book by Steven Levenson. The musical had its world premiere at Arena Stage in July 2015.

Background and development

Dear Evan Hansen is a recipient of an Edgerton Foundation New Play Award. The musical has its origins in an incident that took place during Pasek's high school years. The musical "takes the notion of a teenager, ... Evan Hansen, who invents an important role for himself in a tragedy that he did not earn."

Productions

Dear Evan Hansen premiered at Washington, DC's Arena Stage, running from July 10 to August 23, 2015. The musical was directed by Michael Greif with orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire. The cast featured Ben Platt in the title role, a high school senior with social anxiety disorder who finds himself amid the turmoil that follows a classmate's suicide.

"Dear…" is May J.'s second solo single, released on May 30, 2007. The A-side is described as a high quality ballad full of bitter-sweet sadness. The song was produced by Ryoji of Ketsumeishi. The single includes a remix of the previous single, "Here We Go", in the same way that "Here We Go" contained a remix of "My Girls". This is May J.'s lowest charting releaseever, singles and albums included.

Ulmus pumila 'Hansen'

The Siberian Elm cultivar Ulmus pumila 'Hansen' is a little-known American tree of obscure origin, possibly raised from seed collected by the horticulturist and botanist Prof. Niels Hansen during his expedition to Siberia in 1897.

Description

Very similar to the species. A specimen planted in 1978 at the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens in England had attained a height of 8 m by 2002.

Cultivation

The tree's current status in North America is not known; at least three mature specimens survive in the UK. Significantly, it is not listed in Green's digest of elm cultivar names published in 1964, suggesting a rather belated introduction to commerce.
