David Milne-Home FRSE (born David Milne, 1805, Inveresk, East Lothian - 1890, Milne-Graden) was a Scottish advocate, geologist and meteorologist.
Milne was the junior defence counsel for the notorious grave-robber William Burke, and later served as Advocate-Depute for the Crown Office.
Milne and his wife Jean Home (m. 1832) later adopted the famous name Home, when she inherited the Wedderburn, Billie and Paxton estates in 1852.
His father was Admiral Sir David Milne, and his younger brother became Admiral of the Fleet Sir Alexander Milne, 1st Baronet.
He is remembered today chiefly for his work on earthquakes. As Secretary of the British Association of the Advancement of Science Earthquakes Committee from 1840 to around 1845, he published extensive reports into the earthquake swarm at Comrie, Perthshire, a catalogue of earthquakes in Britain culled from historical sources, and theoretical observations on earthquake phenomena that were advanced for their time.
It was Milne who coined the word "seismometer" in 1841, to describe an instrument designed by James David Forbes.
Colonel David Milne Home (1838–19 November 1901) was a British soldier and Conservative politician.
Milne Home was born in Edinburgh, the eldest son of David Milne-Home (thus making him a grandson of Admiral Sir David Milne) and his wife Jean Home, heiress of William Foreman Home. After being educated at Cheltenham College, Trinity College, Cambridge and Edinburgh University, he joined the Royal Horse Guards in 1861.
In politics, Milne Home was elected Member of Parliament (MP) for the English borough constituency of Berwick-upon-Tweed in February 1874. He lost his seat in the 1880 general election, but the election was declared void and he was re-elected at a by-election in July 1880. He retired from parliamentary politics upon his defeat in the Scottish county constituency of Berwickshire in the general election of 1885.
Returning to the army, he served as second in command of the Household Cavalry Regiment in the Anglo-Egyptian War in 1882, and was present in the engagements at El Magfar, Mahamma and Kassassin. He completed his period of command of the Royal Horse Guards in 1887, and was commander of the 11th Regimental district from 1890 until 1896, when he retired from service with the rank of Colonel.

Several independent candidates sought election to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in the 1995 Ontario provincial election. One such candidate, Peter North, was elected to the legislature. Information on these candidates may be found on this page.
It is possible that some of these candidates were members of unregistered political parties.
Independent candidates who took part in provincial by-elections between 1995 and 1999 are also listed on this page.
De Dominicis was a fifty-four-year-old business owner. He called for job incentives for youth and safer neighbourhoods. He received 572 votes (2.47%), finishing fourth against Liberal candidate Annamarie Castrilli.
William J. Ogilvie has been a political activist in Simcoe County for many years. He served on the Midland council in the 1970s and was at one time its deputy reeve. He lost a mayoralty contest to Moreland Lynn in 1978 and later accused Lynn of being in a conflict of interest over the awarding of an office furniture tender. His complaint was taken up by the provincial government, which had the Ministry of Intergovernmental Affairs investigate the matter. Charges were laid but later dismissed.
David Milne is an Australian Rugby League player. He plays for the Mackay Cutters which is a feeder team for the North Queensland Cowboys. His usual position is as a Fullback.
David debuted for the Raiders in 2005, winning the club's rookie of the year award. After a period moving between the NRL and Premier League David returned to the Raiders side in Round 9 of 2007, securing a regular first grade position at wing. Early 2008 a season-ending injury to William Zillman gave Milne the opportunity to start at fullback after Bronx Goodwin failed to hold his position as the fill in Fullback for Zillman.
In round 13 2008 against the Eels, David Milne started at the back scoring the games opening try. He has since gone from strength to strength with his explosive kick returns and ability to muscle his way out of tackles. He is also willing to put his body on the line for the good of the team.
After limited opportunities in Canberra and being the 3rd choice fullback behind Josh Dugan and Nathan Massey, Milne signed with the North Queensland Cowboys in October 2011 and played for their feeder team the Mackay Cutters in 2012.
David (Bulgarian: Давид) (died 976) was a Bulgarian noble, brother of Emperor Samuel and eldest son of komes Nicholas. After the disastrous invasion of Rus' armies and the fall of North-eastern Bulgaria under Byzantine occupation in 971, he and his three younger brothers took the lead of the defence of the country. They executed their power together and each of them governed and defended a separate region. He ruled the southern-most parts of the realm from Prespa and Kastoria and was responsible for the defence the dangerous borders with Thessalonica and Thessaly. In 976 he participated in the major assault against the Byzantine Empire but was killed by vagrant Vlachs between Prespa and Kostur.
However, there's also another version about David’s origin. David gains the title "comes" during his service in the Byzantine army which recruited many Armenians from the Eastern region of the empire. The 11th-century historian Stepanos Asoghik wrote that Samuel had one brother, and they were Armenians from the district Derjan. This version is supported by the historians Nicholas Adontz, Jordan Ivanov, and Samuil's Inscription where it’s said that Samuel’s brother is David. Also, the historians Yahya and Al Makin clearly distinguish the race of Samuel and David (the Comitopouli) from the one of Moses and Aaron (the royal race):
David (Spanish pronunciation: [daˈβið]) officially San José de David is a city and corregimiento located in the west of Panama. It is the capital of the province of Chiriquí and has an estimated population of 144,858 inhabitants as confirmed in 2013. It is a relatively affluent city with a firmly established, dominant middle class and a very low unemployment and poverty index. The Pan-American Highway is a popular route to David.
The development of the banking sector, public construction works such as the expansion of the airport and the David-Boquete highway alongside the growth of commercial activity in the city have increased its prominence as one of the fastest growing regions in the country. The city is currently the economic center of the Chiriqui province and produces more than half the gross domestic product of the province, which totals 2.1 billion. It is known for being the third-largest city in the country both in population and by GDP and for being the largest city in Western Panama.
