Daughters (band)

Daughters is an American rock band formed in 2001 in Providence, Rhode Island after the demise of Providence-based As the Sun Sets.

Daughters have four releases including their self-titled EP, Canada Songs LP Hell Songs and last album Daughters. The band has re-released their self-titled EP under the title 2002 EP on April 1, 2009. Recording for Daughters' final full-length album began in late April, 2009. It was released March 9, 2010 on Hydra Head Records.

Sometime before the release of the band's third and final album, longtime lead guitarist Nicholas Sadler and bassist Samuel Walker left the group, leaving the future of Daughters in doubt. The band's management has announced the band will not be touring in support of the self-titled album, and that it will presumably be their last. From 2006/2007 to 2011 Sadler was a member of rock group Fang Island and is currently releasing small runs of solo work via Foreign Sounds, composing for film, and playing bass in post-punk band WAY OUT. In 2012 Alexis formed Fucking Invincible with members of other Providence bands and a local tattoo artist. Syverson played several shows with Wet Lungs featuring Gabe Serbian of The Locust and Mike Morowitz whom daughters named a song after. Syverson is now drumming for Pushmen featuring members of Made Out of Babies and Employer Employee.

+/-, or Plus/Minus, is an American indietronic band formed in 2001. The band makes use of both electronic and traditional instruments, and has sought to use electronics to recreate traditional indie rock song forms and instrumental structures. The group has released two albums on each of the American indie labels Teenbeat Records and Absolutely Kosher, and their track "All I do" was prominently featured in the soundtrack for the major film Wicker Park. The group has developed a devoted following in Japan and Taiwan, and has toured there frequently. Although many artists append bonus tracks onto the end of Japanese album releases to discourage purchasers from buying cheaper US import versions, the overseas versions of +/- albums are usually quite different from the US versions - tracklists can be rearranged, artwork with noticeable changes is used, and tracks from the US version can be replaced as well as augmented by bonus tracks.

Daughters is the self-titled third studio album by American rock band Daughters. It was released on March 9, 2010 through Hydra Head Records.

Background

Recording for Daughters began in April 2009, and the tracking process was finished by June 2009. However, in August 2009, Daughters had abruptly broken up. The situation was described by Alexis Marshall as a "big falling out" stemming from creative and personal differences among band members. Marshall commented on his feelings leading up to the temporary break up in an interview with Decibel, stating, "I got fed up with people and it became too much. For a long time I was just a drunk doing stupid shit, and this band was all I had. Then I changed my life and realized how unhappy I was. It was easy to walk away and stop killing myself for this." The disbandment was never officially announced, and "no one outside of [Daughters] knew" about the breakup. Before the end of 2009, Alexis Marshall and Jon Syverson reformed Daughters as a two-piece band to release their self-titled album Daughters, which had been already been completed by this time.
