Darnytsia (Ukrainian: Дарницький район, Darnyts'kyi raion), is a raion (administrative district) of the Ukrainian capital Kiev.
It is the southeastern raion of Kiev located on the left bank of Dnieper river. It borders Dnieper to its west with Holosiiv Raion of Kiev is lying across it, Dnipro Raion of Kiev city to its north, Brovary Raion of Kiev Oblast to its east and Boryspil Raion of Kiev Oblast to its east and south. The population of the city raion is estimated around 250,000 inhabitants.
Although an exact date of establishment of the area is not known, there is evidence that during the 4th and 3rd centuries BC, a Neolithical settlement existed near lake Svyatyshche (Ukrainian: Святище). During the 9th century, Darnytsia was an important center of the Kievan Rus', where ambassadors and delegations from other powers were housed while waiting to meet the kniaz and offer gifts. This gave the area its name Darnytsia (derived from Slavic/Ukrainian dar, meaning gift).
Darnytsia (Ukrainian: Дарниця) is a station on the Kiev Metro's Sviatoshynsko-Brovarska Line. The station was opened on November 5, 1965 as part of the westwards eastwards expansion of the Brovary radius and is the second one to be fully on the left bank of the Dnieper River. It takes its name from the historic neighbourhood of Kiev, Darnytsia.
Designed by architects I.Maslenkov and V.Bogdanovsky, the station presents itself as a simple surface platform with a pillar-supported concrete canopy, a design that is almost identical to the three other stations that opened along with it and typical for the 1960s public architecture. Originally a terminus, not far from the station is the "Darnytsia" depot which was the first fully operational in Kiev, and also served the Kurenivsko-Chervonoarmiyska Line from 1976 until 1982 when the "Obolon" depot opened.
The Darntsia station is located on the edge of a large park and on the Brovary Avenue. Until recently, only one passenger subway led in and out of the station, until a new western overpass exit was opened on November 28, 2006. This was necessary as the station is one of the busiest on the radius due to the large amount of land transport coming from the northern left-bank districts and the local shopping centre of Darnytsia.
Darnytsia (Ukrainian: Дарниця) is a widely found Ukrainian geographical name, which would most often stand for:
- all named particularly after the Kiev's neighborhood.
I'm feeling tornados
Blood drips off the town now
Blood drips off the town now
I'm watching the wind change
Blood drips off the town now
Blood drips off the town now
My mouth is dry
I've had better luck
My eyes are blind
But soon I'll straighten up
Soon I'll straighten up
I left for a while
Blood drips on the floor now
Blood drips on the floor now
I'm looking for ghosts here
Blood drips on the floor now
Blood drips on the floor now
My mouth is dry
My joints are stuck
My eyes are blind
But soon I'll straighten up
Soon I'll straighten up
But soon I'll straighten up
My mouth is dry
Ive had better luck
My eyes are blind
But soon I'll straighten up
Soon I'll straighten up
And I feel it ending
Blood drains from my face now
Blood drains from my face now
And you keep my heart pure
You keep my heart pure
