daoko (だおこ, born 4 March 1997) is a female singer and rapper born in Tokyo. She started her career when one of her uploaded videos on Nico Nico Douga(ニコニコ動画) received attention at the age of 15 in 2012. People were particularly interested in her work due to her poetry reading, beautiful chorus and exquisite balance in her own unique lyrics. It has caught the attention of other artists such as m-flo and the director Tetsuya Nakashima.
The name DAOKO(だおこ) is originally her web nickname that has been used until today; the name is irrelevant to her real name.
Her first tour will be on 15 January 2016 at Tsutaya O-East, Tokyo, Japan. Daoko was nominated as 'Next Break Artist' at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2015.
She had caught the attention of multiple Japanese artists such as m-flo which leads to the collaboration of the two artist to produce her album "IRONY" in 2013 and was appointed as the theme song of the movie 鷹の爪~美しきエリエール消臭プラス~。
Daoko released her first album「HYPERGIRL-向こう側の女の子-」 on 5 December 2012 with LOW HIGH WHO? PRODUCTION. She received a large amount of attention for her vocal work in the music video 「ME!ME!ME! feat. daoko」 composed by TeddyLoid on 21 November 2014. Daoko has left LOW HIGH WHO? PRODUCTION after releasing her last album 「Dimension」 on 4 February 2015 and subsequently shut down her blog.
