Danny Ward

Danny Ward (born 15 June 1980 in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire) is an English former professional rugby league footballer of the 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s who at international level played for Great Britain, and at club level for Leeds Rhinos, Castleford Tigers, Hull Kingston Rovers, and Harlequins in Europe's Super League.

Ward is currently Andrew Henderson's assistant coach at the London Broncos since 2015, previously head coach of the u19s.

Leeds Rhinos

Ward is the son of former Leeds captain and coach David Ward. He was signed for Leeds from Dewsbury Moor, and made his début as a substitute against Sheffield Eagles in 1999. He was named the Leeds Alliance Player of the Year in 2000, before becoming a regular first team member the following season.

Ward first played at international level for the Great Britain Academy before being selected for John Kear's England Under-21 squad for the tour of South Africa at the end of the 2001 season. England won the First Test 112-6 in the first test and the second 74-14. In 2002 he was selected in the England 'A' squad to play New Zealand at Griffin Park, losing 12-34. He then was part of the squad to tour Fiji and Tonga. One of his highlights in 2002 was a field goal in a victory at the Boulevard on his 21st birthday.

Danny Ward (footballer, born 1990)

Daniel Carl "Danny" Ward (born 9 December 1990) is an English footballer who plays for Football League Championship side Rotherham United, as a forward and winger.

Career

Bolton Wanderers

Ward started his career in the Bradford City youth setup before he was snapped up by West Yorkshire rivals Leeds United, but he turned down a new deal at Leeds to join Premier League side Bolton Wanderers. Leeds received compensation as a result of Ward leaving. Danny made his senior debut for Bolton as a substitute in the club's 0–1 home Premier League defeat to Sunderland on 15 August 2009.

On 26 November 2009, he signed for Swindon Town on a one-month loan deal and on 28 December 2009 he scored his first professional goal for Swindon Town in the 46th minute in a 3–1 home win over Yeovil Town.

On 7 September 2010, Ward signed a new three-year contract with Bolton and three days later signed on a three-month loan deal with Coventry City. He made his debut for them in the home game against Leicester City the day after. The loan was cut short on 15 October as Ward returned to Bolton for an operation on his groin which kept him out of the game until the following March.

Danny Ward (footballer, born 1993)

Daniel "Danny" Ward (born 22 June 1993) is a Welsh professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Liverpool. Ward has also previously played for Wrexham as well as having brief loan spells at Tamworth, Morecambe and Aberdeen.

Club career

Ward is a product of the Wrexham Academy, signing for them as a 14-year-old in 2007. In the 2010–11 season, Ward was briefly loaned out to Football Conference rivals Tamworth, making just one appearance in a Conference Premier match on 12 March 2011 in a 3–2 loss against Hayes & Yeading United. He returned to Wrexham for the upcoming 2011–12 season and was promoted to the first team squad but only made it as far as the bench on a handful of occasions.

On 30 January 2012, it was announced that Liverpool had signed Ward for a fee of around £100,000. He was quickly promoted to the Reserve team and featured in the 2011–12 NextGen Series where he played in a 6–0 loss to Ajax in the semi-finals.

Ward got his first call-up to the Liverpool senior squad in a League Cup game against Swansea City on 31 October 2012 as an unused substitute. His next senior call up wasn't until 12 January 2014 for a Premier League game against Stoke City where Ward was deputising for the injured Brad Jones.

    PLAYLIST TIME:

    THE DANCE

    by: Tony Arata

Looking back to the memory of
The dance we shared 'before the stars alone
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye
    And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance
    Holding you I held everything
    For a moment wasn't I a king
But if I'd only known how the king would fall
Hey who's to say you know I might have chanced it all
    And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance
Yes my life is better left to chance
