Daniel "Danny" Meyer (born March 14, 1958) is a New York City restaurateur and the Chief Executive Officer of the Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG).
Meyer was born and raised in a reform Jewish family in St. Louis, where he attended John Burroughs School. Meyer attended Camp Nebagmon for boys in Lake Nebagamon, Wisconsin as a kid. Meyer worked for his father as a tour guide in Rome during college, and then returned to Rome to study international politics. After graduating from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut in 1980 with a degree in political science, Meyer worked in Chicago as Cook County Field Director for John Anderson's 1980 independent presidential campaign. Meyer later gained his first restaurant experience in 1984 as an assistant manager at Pesca, an Italian seafood restaurant in the Flatiron District of New York City. He then returned to Europe to study cooking as a culinary stagiaire in both Italy and Bordeaux.
In 1985, at age 27, Meyer opened his first restaurant, Union Square Cafe. In order to make it successful, Danny Meyer focused on customer satisfaction.

Meyer was selected by Richmond with the twelfth selection in the 2004 AFL Draft from Glenelg in the SANFL.
In October 2008, he was delisted by Richmond after 17 games with the club.
Meyer was picked up by Port Adelaide Power in the 2008 Rookie Draft. After spending 2 years at the Power on the rookie list, he was elevated onto the senior list for the 2011 season.
He announced his retirement from AFL and was delisted by the Power at the end of the 2011 season.

Danny! is a former student of the Savannah College of Art & Design; he often wears a wool necktie and an Australian rounded crown boss-of-the-plains hat, and has gained notoriety for prank-calling celebrities. Danny! rose to prominence shortly following the proclamation by The Roots drummer Questlove that there was strong interest from JAY Z; he was subsequently signed as the flagship artist to Questlove's re-launched Okayplayer Records after years of being loosely affiliated with the company. In support of the new venture Danny! made his television debut on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, premiering his song "Evil" alongside The Roots.
Danny! would field praise for his concept records Charm and And I Love H.E.R., the latter named by ABC News as one of the best 50 albums released that year, before releasing the "anti-album" Where Is Danny?. After signing to Okayplayer Records in late 2012 Danny! completed his trilogy of conceptual albums with Payback, cited by Allmusic as one of the best hip-hop releases of the year. Ebony Magazine has listed Danny! among other rising artists in their "Leaders of the New School" piece, calling Danny! one of a handful of "innovators";GQ would later reiterate the same regarding Danny!'s music production. Currently Danny! is a songwriter/composer for Extreme Music, the production library music subsidiary of Sony/ATV Music Publishing.
