Spiral

In mathematics, a spiral is a curve which emanates from a central point, getting progressively farther away as it revolves around the point.

Two major definitions of "spiral" in a respected American dictionary are:

Definition a describes a planar curve, that extends in both of the perpendicular directions within its plane; the groove on one side of a record closely approximates a plane spiral (and it is by the finite width and depth of the groove, but not by the wider spacing between than within tracks, that it falls short of being a perfect example); note that successive loops differ in diameter. In another example, the "center lines" of the arms of a spiral galaxy trace logarithmic spirals.

Spirals (album)

Spirals is the third album by mathcore band Blood Has Been Shed. The album is known for its more polished production style than their debut I Dwell on Thoughts of You and their follow up effort Novella of Uriel which have a rawer, more muddied sound. The album was released March 11, 2003, and is their third full-length album. This is also the last record recorded with Blood Has Been Shed before Justin Foley also joined Killswitch Engage, Howard Jones at this point was already a member. The first, and only single, from the album is "She Speaks to Me".

Figure skating spirals

A spiral is an element in figure skating where the skater glides on one foot while raising the free leg above hip level. It is akin to the arabesque in ballet.

Spiral positions are classified according to the skating leg (left or right), edge (outside or inside), direction the skater is traveling (forward or backward), and the position of the free leg (backward, forward, sideways).

Spirals are a required element in ladies' singles and pair skating. Currently, spirals are infrequently performed by men at the Olympic level because it is not a required element nor can men receive points for spiral sequences in the element score of the ISU Judging System. In spite of this, some male skaters are known for their spirals, such as Toller Cranston, Paul Wylie, and Shawn Sawyer.

Edging and technique

The name "Spiral" is indicative of the skating edge. This move is generally (but not exclusively) demonstrated on a deep inside or outside edge. As the skater moves, he or she glides slightly to the left or right (depending on the edge used), and continues in a spiral pattern around the ice if held long enough.

Danger! (short story)

"Danger!" is a story written by Arthur Conan Doyle for publication in Strand Magazine in July 1914. The story dealt with a fictitious European country (Norland) going to war with Great Britain, and was intended to call attention to the threat of submarines in warfare.

The story has the submarines establish a blockade of British ports in order to cut off the nation's supplies, and culminates in the torpedoing of a large passenger liner.

Ace (Taemin album)

Ace is the first EP of Taemin under SM Entertainment, released on August 18, 2014. Its promotional single was "Danger".

Background and release

On August 11, 2014, SM Entertainment announced Taemin would release an EP entitled Ace on August 18. On August 13, a highlight medley video from the EP was uploaded to YouTube. The official music video for the EP's first single, "Danger", came out on August 15.

Composition

The song "Danger" was composed by Thomas Troelsen, who also wrote the theme song for the World Cup in Brazil. On radio show Blue Night Radio a listener asked Taemin, "I liked the shooting sound in your music program performances. Why isn’t it included in the digital version [of the song]?" Taemin said, "It was added right before performing on a music program as effect sounds for performance. It’s not included because it may damage the musical completion of the song." Another listener asked, "'Danger' has a Michael Jackson feel. Did you have it in mind while working on the song?". To this, Taemin replied,"The song was composed abroad and bought. It wasn’t like our goal or role model but just happened so in the process. The company thought it would suit me well, and it’s not a style I dislike."
