Dan Clark

Daniel Gregory "Dan" Clark (born 3 July 1976) is an English actor, comedian, writer, director and singer. He is best known for playing Don Danbury on the BBC Three sitcom How Not to Live Your Life, which he also wrote, co-produced, and directed various episodes of. He has been a regular on the British comedy scene as both a sketch and stand-up comedian.

Comedy career

Clark started his career in comedy at the age of nineteen by taking a play he co-wrote and starred in, with old school friend Oliver Maltman, to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In the years that followed Clark formed a comedy trio called Electric Eel and the three men performed at the Edinburgh Festival in 1998 and 1999. Also in 1999 they made a pilot for C4's Comedy Lab series, called Roy Dance is Dead, and the following year a full series was commissioned. In February 2002 the sitcom, retitled The Estate Agents, was broadcast. Electric Eel followed the series with a UK tour and another Edinburgh Festival run. In 2003 Clark took his first ever one-man show to Edinburgh. "57 Minutes" was a mix of monologues and sketches. The following year he began a career in stand up. He took a full hour show to the Edinburgh Festival in 2005, 2006 and 2007. He also began his legendary monthly comedy night, Clark's, which he would host and curate. In the summer of 2006 Clark wrote and performed in a series of shorts for the Paramount Comedy Channel (now Comedy Central UK) called Dan Clark's Guide to Dating. That was followed by another series called Dan Clark's Guide to Working. The shorts were broadcast between main TV shows on the channel but were subsequently put online and gathered huge numbers of views on YouTube.

Dan Clark (Canadian football)

Dan Clark (born June 1, 1988) is a professional Canadian football offensive lineman for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League. He was signed by the Roughriders in June, 2009 and spent time on the practice roster during the 2009 and 2010 seasons while playing junior football. He played junior football for the Regina Thunder of the Canadian Junior Football League.

Career

Clark aimed to become a professional athlete; he was a ski racer, Golden Gloves boxing champion, and motocross racer. He also played on his high school football, baseball, basketball and track teams. After high school, Clark accepted a scholarship in football and baseball to the University of Utah where he majored in Psychology. He was a starting wide receiver his freshman year and the starting defensive end beginning his sophomore year. He was projected as a number one draft choice for the NFL Oakland Raiders in a confirmation letter from Ron Wolf and Al Davis. During a tackling drill Clark cracked the 7th vertebra in his neck and severed the axillary nerve in his right shoulder. Doctors projected he would have a 10% chance of recovery at best. However, Clark recovered full function in a couple of years, and was invited to speak to local high school kids about his recovery. From there Clark was invited to speak for Nancy Reagan's "Just Say No" campaign.

Clark (mascot)

Clark is the official team mascot of Major League Baseball's Chicago Cubs. He was announced on January 13, 2014 as the first official mascot in the modern history of the Cubs franchise. He was introduced that day at the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center's pediatric developmental center along with some of the Cubs' top prospects such as number one draft pick Kris Bryant and Albert Almora, Jorge Soler, Mike Olt and Eric Jokisch. Over a dozen Cubs prospects were attending the Cubs' Rookie Development Program that week. The Cubs become the 27th team in Major League Baseball to have a mascot, leaving the Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees as the remaining franchises without mascots. According to the Cubs' press release, Clark is a response to fan demands (expressed via surveys and interviews) for more kid-friendly elements at Wrigley Field Cubs games to keep pace with games in other cities that have more to offer youth fans.

Description

He is a "young, friendly Cub" who will wear a backwards baseball cap and greet fans entering Wrigley Field, which is located at the corner of Clark Street (for which he is named) and Addison Street. North Clark Street borders the third base side of Wrigley Field. According to the Cubs, the fictional character Clark is descended from Joa, the franchise's original live Bears mascot in 1916.
