Damien (TV series)

Damien is an upcoming A&E series based on the horror film series The Omen. The show was ordered as a series on August 25, 2014, by Lifetime, but was moved to A&E on April 29, 2015, where it is announced to premiere on March 7, 2016.

Synopsis

Based on the 1976 Omen movie, Damien follows the adult life of Damien Thorn (Bradley James), now a 30-year-old war photographer who has forgotten his Satanic past, facing his true identity. Ann Rutledge (Barbara Hershey), who has protected Damien all his life, will help him embrace his Antichrist side.

Damien (play)

Damien is a 1976 one person show about Catholic missionary Father Damien, by Aldyth Morris. The play was originally performed in Hawaii in by Terence Knapp and has had numerous professional and amateur productions since that time.

The play is set in 1936 when Damien's body is being transported from Molokai to his native Belgium. Damien's story is retold through a series of flashbacks.

Damien featuring Terence Knapp was broadcast nationally on PBS in the United States in 1978 and again in 1986 on American Playhouse. The broadcast received a number of recognitions including a Peabody Award.

Various student characters attend the fictional school South Park Elementary in the animated television show South Park. The school is one of the most prominent settings on the show, the narrative of which revolves mostly around the students.

While there have been a few characters from varying grades have been depicted in recurring minor roles, the students in the fourth grade—including central characters Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Kenny McCormick, and Eric Cartman—receive the primary focus of the series. The fourth grade class is taught throughout most of the series by Mr. Garrison, with a hiatus between seasons 4 and 6 when he is replaced by Ms. Choksondik. These students also attended class under Mr. Garrison during their previous time as third graders during South Park's first three-and-a-half seasons.

In tradition with the show's cutout animation style, all characters listed below are composed of simple geometrical shapes and bright colors. Ever since the show's second episode, "Weight Gain 4000" (season one, 1997), all characters on South Park have been animated with computer software, though they are portrayed to give the impression that the show still utilizes the method of animating construction paper composition cutouts through the use of stop motion, which was the technique used in creating the show's first episode, "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe".

Diabolo

The diabolo (/diːˈæbəloʊ/ dee-AB-ə-loh; commonly misspelled diablo) is a juggling prop consisting of an axle and two cups or discs. This object is spun using a string attached to two hand sticks. A huge variety of tricks are possible with the diabolo, including tosses, and various types of interaction with the sticks, string, and various parts of the user's body. Multiple diabolos can be spun on a single string.

History and etymology

Diabolos evolved from the Chinese yo-yo, which was originally standardized in the 12th century. Chinese yo-yos have a longer axle with discs on either end, while the diabolo has a very short axle and larger, round cups on either end. Diabolos are made of different materials and come in different sizes and weights.

The term "diabolo" was not taken from the Italian word for "devil"—"diavolo"—but was coined by French engineer Gustave Phillippart, who developed the modern diabolo in the early twentieth century, and derived the name from the Greek dia bolo, roughly meaning "across throw".

Diablo is a 2015 action-adventure American Film, the film is directed by Lawrence Roeck. Starring Scott Eastwood, Walton Goggins, Camilla Belle and Danny Glover. The story is about a young civil war veteran who is forced on a desperate journey to save his kidnapped wife. The film has received negative reviews, but some critics praised Scott Eastwood's performance.
