Dallas, Pennsylvania

Dallas is a borough in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,804 at the 2010 census. It was created by a charter granted April 21, 1879, from land entirely within Dallas Township. The township had been formed in 1817 and was named for Alexander J. Dallas, who was the 6th United States Secretary of the Treasury and the father of George M. Dallas, the vice president of James Polk. The local government describes the borough as the "Pride" of The Back Mountain, an area consisting of Dallas, Kingston Township, a part of Wyoming, West Wyoming, and Harveys Lake. Dallas is the home of Misericordia University and Dallas State Correctional Institution which holds 2,150 inmates.

Dallas is located at 41°20′0″N 75°58′0″W / 41.33333°N 75.96667°W / 41.33333; -75.96667.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 2.4 square miles (6.2 km²), of which 2.3 square miles (6.0 km²) is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km²), or 3.78%, is water.

Dallas

Dallas (/ˈdæləs/) is a major city in the state of Texas and is the largest urban center of the fourth most populous metropolitan area in the United States. The city proper ranks ninth in the U.S. and third in Texas after Houston and San Antonio. The city's prominence arose from its historical importance as a center for the oil and cotton industries, and its position along numerous railroad lines. The bulk of the city is in Dallas County, of which it is the county seat; however, sections of the city are located in Collin, Denton, Kaufman, and Rockwall counties. According to the 2010 United States Census, the city had a population of 1,197,816. The United States Census Bureau's estimate for the city's population increased to 1,281,047, as of 2014.

Future series regular Susan Howard returns as Donna Culver for four episodes. The character Jenna Wade, who will be portrayed by series regular Priscilla Presley in later seasons, also returns for two episodes, now played by Francine Tacker. Longrunning supporting actors Jared Martin (Steven "Dusty" Farlow). George O. Petrie (Harv Smithfield), Stephanie Blackmore (Serena Wald), Tom Fuccello (Dave Culver), Jeff Cooper (Dr. Simon Ellby), Dennis Patrick (Vaughn Leland) and Barry Corbin (Sheriff Fenton Washburn) make their debuts. Mel Ferrer (Harrison Page) appears in two episodes as Pam's immediate supervisor at The Store after her promotion to Buyer. Dallas (1978 TV series) (season 1)

The television show Dallas originally aired as a five-episode miniseries starting on the first Sunday of April, 1978. Though the show was never intended to continue beyond the initial five episodes, its popularity led to the creation of an additional twelve full seasons, ending after the thirteenth.

Production

The original mini series was shot over six weeks during the winter of 1977, on location in Dallas, Texas. The Cloyce Box Ranch served as the first 'South Fork Ranch' exterior, and a Swiss Avenue building was used for the interior stage sets.
