Bridge (1949 film)

Bridge (simplified Chinese: ; traditional Chinese: ; pinyin: Qiáo) (also known as The Bridge) is a 1949 Chinese war film made shortly after the Communist revolution in China; as such, it is considered the first film completed after the founding of the People's Republic of China. As a film, Bridge set many of the themes that would dominate the Socialist cinema of post-1949 China, including the glorification of the worker and the conversion of the intellectual to Communism.

Plot

During the Chinese Civil War, a railroad factory is commissioned by the Communist army to repair a bridge. Led by a skeptical engineer who does not believe the bridge can be completed in time, the factory workers lack enthusiasm and morale. The project is galvanized, however, by the work of Liang Ruisheng (Wang Jiayi), who inspires his fellow workers to complete the project for the war effort. In the process, even the engineer is converted.

Bridge Nine Records is a contemporary hardcore punk record label located outside Boston, Massachusetts. Bridge Nine is owned by Chris Wrenn of Salem, Massachusetts, who began the label in 1995 and produced its first release in 1996. The label is named as a metaphor for what Wrenn wanted to do in creating the label: bridge all parts of the hardcore scene into one label and then put his lucky number (nine) in the title. The label currently has 8 employees and 30 active bands.

  • Hawkwind videography

The British space rock group Hawkwind have been active since 1969, but their earliest video release is Night Of The Hawk from their Earth Ritual Tour recorded at Ipswich on 9 March 1984. Since then, there have been numerous video releases covering the evolution of the band; some are professional broadcast shoots, others commercial, and a few are amateur.

There have also been some live video shoots of the band during the 1970s, although none have seen a commercial release. These include an early 12 April 1970 The Roundhouse, London performance and a Hawklords performance at Brunel University, Uxbridge on 24 November 1978.

The Hawkestra event, a reunion featuring appearances from all past and present members on 21 October 2000 at the Brixton Academy, was professionally filmed but disputes between band members would indicate any forthcoming release unlikely.

  • Shadow Galactica

Shadow Galactica (シャドウ・ギャラクティカ Shadō Gyarakutika) is a group of fictional characters who serve as antagonists in the Sailor Moon manga series created by Naoko Takeuchi. They are the final antagonists of the series' fifth story arc, called Stars in the original manga and Sailor Moon Sailor Stars in its anime adaptation. Shadow Galactica is first introduced in chapter #43 "Stars 1", originally published in Japan on September 6, 1996.

Shadow Galactica as an organization devotes itself to stealing "starseeds", the essence of sentient life, from all in the universe. Its members are lead by Sailor Galaxia and have the ultimate goal of reorganizing the universe in the image that Chaos desires. The musicals state that they have already conquered 80% of the Milky Way galaxy, and all 88 constellations - with only Sailor Moon's solar system remaining. Sailor Galaxia's castle, Galatica Palace (ギャラクティカ・パレス Gyarakutika Paresu), serves as Shadow Galactica's base of operations in the manga. Galactica Palace is located at the Galactic Center, in Sagittarius Zero Star, and it is built around the Galaxy Cauldron, the birthplace of all life in the Milky Way. In the anime, Shadow Galactica's base is Galaxy TV (銀河TV Ginga Terebi, lit. "Silver River TV").
