D&D (band)

D&D was a Japanese eurobeat idol group, featuring vocalist Olivia, and dancers Chikano and Aya. They debuted in 1996 with the single "In Your Eyes," and disbanded in 1999. Vocalist Olivia debuted as a solo musician in 1999, and sung several theme songs for the anime Nana in 2006.

Biography

The three members of D&D attended the Okinawa Actors School, and were scouted by Rising Production for record company Avex Trax, debuting in 1996. Their first two singles, "In Your Eyes" and "Love Is a Melody" were used as background music for commercials for Yuri Takano Beauty Clinic that featured Namie Amuro as their spokesperson. As vocalist Olivia was not very confident in Japanese at the time of the group's debut, most songs were sung in English. Their third single, "Sunshine Hero," was used in a commercial for Morinaga's Piknik confectionery, which featured D&D themselves.

In March 1998, the group released their debut album Love Is a Melody: D&D Memorial 1st. It was commercially successful, debuting at number 5 on Oricon's albums chart, and was certified gold by the RIAJ for more than 250,000 copies shipped to stores. After Olivia participated in a collaboration song with Jean Michel Jarre and Tetsuya Komuro written for the 1998 FIFA World Cup, "Together Now," she began releasing material as a soloist. Chikano and Aya continued to release music together, as Aya & Chika from D&D. They released the single "Kiss in the Sun" in September 1998, followed by the opening theme song for the anime Power Stone, "Rise in My Heart," in April 1999. The group intended to release a third single in September 1999, however this was cancelled.

Dédé is a 1935 French comedy film directed by René Guissart, based on operetta by Albert Willemetz, and starring Danielle Darrieux, Albert Préjean and Mireille Perrey. The music is by Henri Christiné.

Dodo Kuranosuke

Dodo Kuranosuke (百々内蔵助, died 1560) was a Japanese samurai, and was a retainer of the Rokkaku clan until 1558, when he launched a rebellion.

The retainer betrayed Rokkaku Yoshikata, and then fled to the safety of Sawayama Castle in present-day Shiga Prefecture, Honshu. Kuranosuke was besieged there, but held off every enemy attack until a force of ninja under Tateoka Doshun infiltrated and burnt the castle.

In 1560 his forces aided the Azai clan at the Battle of Norada against the Rokkaku. He fought his archenemy until the end, when he died in battle with them.

D+ is an indie rock band based in Anacortes, Washington. Formed in 1996 by singer/guitarist Bret Lunsford and singers/multi-instrumentalists Karl Blau and Phil Elverum, the band is perhaps best known for Lunsford's droll vocals and witty wordplay, and a minimalist, charmingly ramshackle sound.

D (band)

D is a Japanese visual kei rock band formed in 2003 by Asagi, Ruiza and Sin, after their previous band Syndrome disbanded.

History

Indie (2003–2007)

In March 2003, D was formed with their initial lineup of vocalist Asagi, guitarist Ruiza, drummer Hiroki, guitarist Sin, and bassist Lena. They released their first EP, New Blood on July 18. Soon after its release, Ruiza was hospitalized for an unknown illness and Sin decided to leave the band. D went on a short pause of activities from that point, however Asagi and Hiroki continued to play concerts under the name "Night of the Children" with a support guitarist, Hide-Zou. Once Ruiza was released from the hospital on September 27, D officially resumed activities with Hide-Zou replacing Sin on guitar. Two months after their reunion, they recorded their first single "Alice" which given away for free at only one show in Tokyo that November. On Jan 7 of the following year, they released their second EP Paradox.

During 2004, D released another EP Yume Narishi Kuuchuu Teien, as well as a single entitled "Mayutsuki no Hitsugi", which was only for sale at three concerts in November, in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka. They also released a remastered version of their first EP, with a previously unreleased track "Gareki no Hana". New Blood: Second Impact was released on December 8 of that year, quickly followed by their fourth single, "Mahiru no Koe: Synchronicity".
