DC Shoes

DC Shoes is an American company that specializes in footwear for action sports, including skateboarding and snowboarding. The company also manufactures apparel, bags, accessories, hats, shirts, and posters.

History

The company was founded in June 1994 by Damon Way and Ken Block, it was originally based in Carlsbad, CA, but is now based in Huntington Beach, California, United States (US). DC originally stood for "Droors Clothing", but since the sale of Droors Clothing (which is now defunct), DC no longer has ties to Droors and is simply DC Shoes, Inc.

On March 8, 2004, DC Shoes was acquired by Quiksilver in an US$87 million transaction. In 2010, DC Shoes moved from Vista, California, to Quiksilver's headquarters in Huntington Beach. The Huntington Beach location is closed down . A video entitled Skateboarding Is Forever was released online in 2010 and featured parts from the amateur DC skateboard team at the time: Marquise Henry, Matt Miller, Wes Kremer, Evan Smith, and Greg Myers. Apart from Myers and Henry, all of the skateboarders from the video remain sponsored by the company in 2013, and have since attained professional status (Myers was arrested following a carjacking incident in October 2012).

Shoe

A shoe is an item of footwear intended to protect and comfort the human foot while doing various activities. Shoes are also used as an item of decoration. The design of shoes has varied enormously through time and from culture to culture, with appearance originally being tied to function. Additionally, fashion has often dictated many design elements, such as whether shoes have very high heels or flat ones. Contemporary footwear varies widely in style, complexity and cost. Basic sandals may consist of only a thin sole and simple strap. High fashion shoes may be made of very expensive materials in complex construction and sell for thousands of dollars a pair. Other shoes are for very specific purposes, such as boots designed specifically for mountaineering or skiing.

Traditionally, shoes have been made from leather, wood or canvas, but are increasingly made from rubber, plastics, and other petrochemical-derived materials.

Though it has evolved over hundreds of thousands of years in relation to vastly varied terrain and climate conditions, the human foot is still vulnerable to environmental hazards such as sharp rocks and hot ground, against which, shoes can protect.

Shoes (Reparata song)

"Shoes" is a 1975 single by Reparata.

Earlier recordings of the song

The song was first recorded by Felix Harp, a band from Trafford and Level Green, Pennsylvania, with music and lyrics by bandmember Eric Beam. It was released as a single in 1973, renamed "She Didn't Forget Her Shoes (Johnny and Louise)" on Lou Guarino's NAMI label as NAMI 2011, produced by Guarino himself.

In 1974 the German group Love Generation recorded the song, retitled "Johnny and Louise (She Didn't Forget Her Shoes)", and it was released as a single in 1974. They also recorded a German-language version called "Johnny und Louise", released on United Artists as UA 35685. The Love Generation versions of the song wrongly give the songwriting credit to "Harp".

Also in 1974, the British folk group The (New) Settlers released a version on York Records as YR218 with a different title again, "She Didn't Forget Her Shoes".

Recording

In 1974 Lou Guarino produced the recording by Reparata, using a remix of the original Felix Harp backing track. The co-producers were Steve and Bill Jerome.

Shoes (Kelly song)

"Shoes" is the debut single by comedian Liam Kyle Sullivan, under his female Kelly character. It was released for digital download sometime in 2006, but it is unknown when. The song has become popular in pop culture, and has been performed live many times. It also made Sullivan an icon in pop culture. Kelly appears in VH1's I Hate My 30's, as well as being in Weezer's video for "Pork and Beans". The song also won the 2008 People's Choice Award for "Best User Generated Video". It is also Kelly's biggest hit to date.

Music video

The music video was released along with the song on Liam Kyle Sullivan's official YouTube account. The song became an instant hit on the internet, and has been viewed over 57,000,000 times on Sullivan's YouTube account alone.

The video starts out with Kelly (Sullivan), along with her mother (Pam Cook), father (Sullivan), and twin brother (Sullivan). It is the twins' birthday, and they are about to open their presents. Her brother goes first, and gets a new computer and a car. Kelly's present turns out to be a large, purple stuffed dinosaur with a goofy grin. After arguing with the family for a few moments, Kelly turns to leave. When asked where she's going, she replies "I'm going to get what I want." Her father, obviously knowing what that is, says, "Christ". After this, the video consist of Kelly singing the song while going to various shoe stores with her friends. At four shoe stores, the clerks tells Kelly she has too many shoes, to whom she pushes one of them down and steps on his face. There are also scenes in which she is singing with a microphone. The video shows a party going on outside and scenes of two girls dancing with a ring of fire. At the end, the girl with the ring of fire blows it out.
