DCD (formerly DCD-Dorbyl) is a South African manufacturer and supplier of engineering solutions to the rail, mining & energy, defence and marine sectors.
DCD was originally established in 1946 as DCD Dorbyl (Pty) Limited, a merger of Dorman Long and Vanderbijl Engineering Corporation. It rebranded in 2012 as "DCD". (DCD is not connected with the JSE-listed Dorbyl Limited.)
The company specializes in engineering projects, including rail and military defence vehicle engineering, roller manufacturing, marine engineering and mine engineering. The current managing director is Mr Robert King following up from Mr Louis C J Taljaard.
In February 2010, Westinghouse and DCD- Dorbyl announced cooperation on creating a plant for building modules for AP1000 reactors.

The Company refers to a fictional covert international organization in the NBC drama Heroes. Its primary purpose is to identify, monitor and study those individuals with genetically-derived special abilities. The Company played a central role in the plot of Volume Two, during the second season of the series. It is a very notable organization in the series and is connected to several of the characters.
In season two, Kaito Nakamura revealed that there were twelve founders of the Company, and a photo of the twelve is later seen (listed below under "Group photo"); it did not include Adam Monroe, an immortal human with the ability of rapid cellular regeneration, who is described as the one who "brought them all together." The Company began sometime between January 1977 and February 14, 1977. Monroe was locked away for thirty years on November 2, 1977, concluding that he only spent about 10 to 11 months with the Company. In the first season of the show, Daniel Linderman heads the Company until his demise. He is substituted in the second season by Bob Bishop, who is implied to be the Company's financial source. However, when Sylar kills him in the beginning of Season 3, Angela Petrelli takes over. Several of the founders have children who are posthumans and who are main characters within the series.

A company is a military unit, typically consisting of 80–250 soldiers and usually commanded by a major or a captain. Most companies are formed of three to six platoons, although the exact number may vary by country, unit type, and structure. Several companies are grouped to form a battalion or regiment, the latter of which is sometimes formed by several battalions.
Certain sub-units were raised as independent companies that reported to no higher unit headquarters.
The modern military company became popularized during the reorganization of the Swedish Army in 1631 under King Gustav II Adolph. For administrative purposes, the infantry was divided into companies consisting of 150 men, grouped into regiments of eight companies. Tactically, the infantry companies were organized into battalions and grouped with cavalry troops and artillery batteries to form brigades.
From ancient times, some armies have commonly used a base administrative and tactical unit of around 100 men. (Perhaps the most well-known is the Roman century, originally intended as a 100-man unit, but later ranging from about 60-80 men, depending on the time period.)
