Daam

Daam (Urdu: دام‎) (lit. Price) is a Pakistani drama television series which premiered on ARY Digital on 11 June 2010 and last episode was aired on 15 October 2010. The series is directed by award winning TV director Mehreen Jabbar, is written by popular Urdu novelist Umera Ahmed, and produced by Humayun Saeed and Abdullah Kadwani's production house 7th Sky Entertainment.

Design and Arts Arcadia of Myungseung

Design and Arts Arcadia of Myungseung (abbreviated DAAM), located in Chuncheon, Korea, is a full-service hotel with many components of art and culture as the focal theme of its operations. First conceptualized in 2004 by the CEO of MAC Architects-Consultants Group Ltd., Mr. Soon Jo Lee, DAAM is currently undergoing construction after having its groundbreaking ceremony on December 21, 2009 and having received its architectural permit on June 23, 2010. The Grand Opening of DAAM is projected to be in 2013.

Concept of the Apple

Apples have long been a theme used to depict ambition as well as innovation. Examples of this could be seen many times throughout history, such as the forbidden apple from The Garden of Eden, the apple from Snow White, Newton’s discovery of gravity through the falling apple, the Swiss folk story of Wilhelm Tell and the apple placed on his son’s head and even New York City, often dubbed the Big Apple. Following the long traditions of apples being used as a symbol for such historical advances, the theme of the building will be based on the theme of an apple as well. The building will feature two main sections: the apple core and the apple peel with each part having a different purpose.

DAAM1

Disheveled-associated activator of morphogenesis 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the DAAM1 gene. Evidence of alternative splicing has been observed for this gene but the full-length nature of these variants has not been determined.

Function

Cell motility, adhesion, and cytokinesis, and other functions of the cell cortex are mediated by the reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton and recent evidence suggests a role for formin homology (FH) proteins in these processes. The protein encoded by this gene contains FH domains and belongs to a novel FH protein subfamily implicated in cell polarity. Wnt/Fz signaling activates the small GTPase Rho, a key regulator of cytoskeleton architecture, to control cell polarity and movement during development. Activation requires Dvl-Rho complex formation, an assembly mediated by this gene product, which is thought to function as a scaffolding protein.

Clinical significance

The deletion of a single copy of this gene has been associated with congenital heart defects.
