Eternal Pyre

Eternal Pyre is an EP by the thrash metal band Slayer. Released June 6, 2006 (06/06/06) through American Recordings, the EP was limited to a pressing of 1,000 (but later 5,000) copies. The album is a pre-release to the later album Christ Illusion, which, like the EP, features the song "Cult". The album was released exclusively through Hot Topic chain stores in the United States and copies were also available in Germany, Finland and Sweden on June 23, 2006. There are three tracks featured on the album, one of which is an audio track and the others are videos. The album was not well received by critics, with few critics actually reviewing the album. The album charted on four different charts, peaking number two in Finland and three in Denmark.

Background

The album Christ Illusion was originally set for release on June 6, 2006. Slayer guitarist Kerry King stated this tentative release date was scrapped as a number of other bands had the same idea and thought it was "fucking lame", although USA Today reported the release date was thwarted because the band had failed to secure sufficient studio recording time.Eternal Pyre was released instead, a preview of their album to be released in the coming months. The EP featured the track "Cult", a live performance of "War Ensemble" in Germany and four minutes footage of the band in the recording studio. Originally, it was thought that the extended play would feature a live version of "Dead Skin Mask" instead of the live version of "War Ensemble". Many news reporters were told that the album would feature the "Live Intrusion" video, described as a clip of one of the band's fans who carved Slayer's name into his forearm." 5,000 copies were released exclusively through Hot Topic chain stores in the United States and copies were also available in Germany, Finland and Sweden on June 23.Nuclear Blast Records released a further 7" vinyl picture disc version limited to one thousand copies on June 30.

Cult

In the sociological classifications of religious movements in English, a cult is a religious or social group with socially deviant or novel beliefs and practices. However, whether any particular group's beliefs and practices are sufficiently deviant or novel is often unclear, thus making a precise definition problematic. In the English speaking world, the word often carries derogatory connotations, but in other European languages, it is used as English-speakers use the word "religion", sometimes causing confusion for English-speakers reading material translated from other languages. The word "cult" has always been controversial because it is (in a pejorative sense) considered a subjective term, used as an ad hominem attack against groups with differing doctrines or practices, which lacks a clear or consistent definition.

Beginning in the 1930s, cults became the object of sociological study in the context of the study of religious behavior. Certain groups have been labelled as cults and have been opposed by the Christian countercult movement for their unorthodox beliefs. Since the 1970s, some groups have been opposed by the anti-cult movement, partly motivated in reaction to acts of violence committed by members of some groups. Some of the claims by the anti-cult movement have been disputed by other scholars and by the news media, leading to further controversy. Public and governmental reactions to the cult issue have also been a source of controversy.

Cult (film)

Cult (カルト) is a 2013 Japanese horror found footage film written and directed by Kôji Shiraishi about the supernatural malevolent forces haunting the Kaneda family. It was released in Japan on July 20, 2013.

Plot

The film stars several idols who play themselves as they appear on a paranormal television show to investigate the exorcism of the Kaneda family. The supernatural events in the Kaneda household are recorded by the documentary team. A mysterious shaman seems to be the only hope of salvation not only for the family, but for the investigators as well.

Production

The film was released in Japan on July 20, 2013. The UK premiere took place on October 31, 2013.

Cult (Bayside album)

Cult is the sixth studio album by American rock band Bayside released on February 18, 2014 on Hopeless Records in North America. In 2015, it was rereleased with a white cover and 4 bonus tracks.

Reception

The album received generally favorable reviews. The album was included at number 46 on Kerrang!'s "The Top 50 Rock Albums Of 2014" list.

Slayer, also known as Mexferatu Mexico, is a 2006 vampire themed television movie by Sci Fi Channel, directed and written by Kevin VanHook, starring Casper Van Dien and Kevin Grevioux, about an elite commando squad in South American rain forest, dealing against a deadly and bloodthirsty vampire clan living in the forest.

Plot summary

The plot of Slayer concerns a group of US military soldiers led by Hawk (Van Dien), who are sent to South America, where they must fight vampires. However, one of the members of the squad, Grieves, is transformed into a vampire, forcing him to battle his former friend Hawk.

Slayer was filmed in Puerto Rico on a $2,000,000 budget. The company Tata Elxsi Visual Computing Lab handled the post production. The film premiered on the Sci-Fi channel on 8 July 2006.

Slayer (video game)

Slayer is a horizontally scrolling shooter game developed by Imperial Software in 1988 for the Amiga, Atari ST and Commodore 64. Hewson Consultants published the game.

Summary

As the name implies, the point is to slay enemies. The game consists of three levels, each with a boss which must be defeated at the end. Power-ups such as bonus weapons and shields lay scattered around the levels.

Slayer is similar to Blood Money.
